The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Organic Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks:
These socks are REALLY comfortable and all-around are quite excellent. I bought one pair to try them out a few months back, have ended up wearing them all the time, and am back to buy more.
They have held their form through regular wear in my hiking boots and many washes (I dry everything on low heat so that probably has helped.) They also remain as soft and as when I first got them, and I might say they are REALLY soft... definitely the softest hiking sock I've ever had, and there's been no pilling at all! They also regulate well, as even through the 90+ heat this summer my feet never sweat in these.
The only problem I experienced has little to do with the sock but the fact that my foot size is precisely 8.5 to 9, which makes it near impossible to find a perfectly fitting sock! I bought the first pair in large (size 9-12) as I usually do, but these seem a tad larger than I expected and so bunch a little bit in the heel. Will go with medium this time.
I also think these socks are priced amazingly well for a 'green' product that definitely competes with other items in its class. (I always try to 'buy green' and am usually skeptical whether I'm giving anything up for it in quality - especially when the cost is no higher... this is why I say I am 'totally surprised by these socks'!)

Comments about REI Organic Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks:
These are great socks. I've worn them on dozens of few-hr hikes and a number of day-long hikes, including a hunting trip with lots bushwacking including 2000ft/3mile with a 120lb pack.
They've held up well after dozens of washes and I now wear them for daily use as well.
My only complaint is that they are a bit warm, and the red color only option.

Comments about REI Organic Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks:
To start off, I wear an 11 shoe and I went with the mediums, which fit well. I wash and dry these socks, which some would consider a cardinal sin, but I don't have the patience to "lay them flat to dry". (I saw no change in size when I dried them.)
Anyway, I was looking for a good sock for the winter that is comparable to SmartWools, but not as expensive. I've had these socks for about 2 months now, and they've already started to wear out. Specifically the Achilles area is worn through. I haven't put these through a ton of stress, just wearing a couple times/week. I think it may be worth it to upgrade to more expensive socks that will last longer.
They're certainly warm and comfortable, and if they didn't wear through, I'd be really happy, but it's not worth it to buy a pair of socks that's this expensive and only have them last a couple of months.

Comments about REI Organic Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks:
I bought a pair of these for my mom a year ago (2010) and she absolutely loved them. Unfortunately the thing she liked about them most was the color. When I ordered more this year they came in a red color, not orange as shown in the photo. Still great socks for keeping your feet warm during the winter.

Comfort-wise, it is all right. I wear 11.5 shoes and the Large (9-12) is a little too big. The heel bunches up a little.

Great socks! Feel good and are a great value. They are much better than a pair that I had paid over twice as much for and are a lot more comfortable.
