Comments about Xshot 2.0 Camera Extender:
Handing a camera to a stranger rarely results in a well composed picture. Poor composition and framing, or a person who hits every control before the shutter button, and you wind up with a close up of an earlobe, when you wanted a group shot of 5. Once getting used to how to angle and hold the XShot, the shots came out nicely using my Lumix point and shoot. Also great if no one is around you except forest creatures to help take the shot. Instant conversation starter, I've made several new business contacts (and referred a lot of people to REI to buy one). After about a year of travel, and what I would consider "moderate" use, the top base began to loosen, as another reviewer mentioned. Stripped screw. Going to the company web page (on a holiday weekend) I sent an e-mail to customer service. On Tuesday, had a response, asking for my mailing address for a replacement part. Thursday, I had the part in hand, and the unit is better than new. If there was a "design flaw" it appears to have been corrected, as the new part seems much more solid. 5 stars for the great utility and results, and 6 for the very prompt and efficient service above my expectations. I enjoy dealing with a company like this, and can highly recommend this product and company.

Comments about Xshot 2.0 Camera Extender:
Poor design. The tighter you screw the cam on the mount the looser the base becomes...why you ask? There are metal screws going directly into the plastic base...really? This is a terrible design and good for literally no uses...screw holes striped the first time I put my cam on the base. Therefore, in minor movement the entire base and cam shakes making pics almost useless. I had to use super glue to attach the two base pieces together more tightly so it would function as intended. If they would put metal holes in problem would be solved and would only cost maybe 5 cents per unit. At the [$] premium price...they will still make money.

This is a totally killer idea, and I'm excited to see the new version of this with hopes they fix a few bugs. First off the strap isn't durable at all and broke the first time I used it. Definitely not something you want breaking with an expensive camera on the end. Second I think it should lock down at the angle you set it. Not matter how tight I twist the screw the base still pivots and I have to adjust it again. It would be awesome if you could screw it in tight and not have to worry about. Still super fun to use and a fantastic idea for both video and still photography.

I have been using the Xshot throughout my travels in Australia and it is great! It packs small and is perfect for those self portraits when you are in the middle of nowhere.
It's also great for taking pictures from angles that you can't normally reach. It has added a new dimension to my photography.
As I continue my travels, the Xshot has become a permanent attachment for my camera.

I was recently on a backpacking trip to 1000 Island Lake in Mammoth High Country. I used the XShot to get some great pics that allowed us all to be in the picture, no tripod required. Very compact and durable product. Easy to use and also great for videos in some crazy climbing spots. Sure is better than the typical one armed self photo.
