Our Novara Pixie 20 in. 6-speed bike will delight young riders with its easy-to-handle, lightweight aluminum frame and sweet Shimano components.

  • Nimble 6061 aluminum frame is easy to manage and the Spinner Grind suspension fork soaks up the bumps for solid control and reduced fatigue
  • Shimano components, 6 speeds and twist shifters offer plenty of choices for hill climbing or cruising on the flats
  • Tektro linear-pull brakes provide fast and reliable stopping power
  • All-terrain traction tires are mounted on sturdy rims for excellent performance on and off the road
  • Rear moto-style fender and front down tube deflector help guard against flying mud!
  • Also features a sturdy chainring guard and kickstand
  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Novara Pixie 20'' 6-Speed Bike - 2011:

The frame is aluminum but bike is HEAVY for it's size. The 20" Specialized Hotrock is noticeably lighter. The cockpit seams long for a small bike but I'm not sure how that aspect compares to Specialized. The handlebar does not have much adjustability for sizing so you must do it from the saddle. The front shock adds more weight than comfort or trail ability. My 8.5yo daughter who is strong, can't make shifts with the grip shift but can shift gears on a friend's Specialized. My daughter enjoys it overall and it will easily last the short time before she outgrows it. It cost less than Specialized which was good and it's not a bad bike at all. It looks good and will last for several kids easily. Still, she'd have been better off with the more expensive Specialized bike with no front fork.
