Comments about Keen Whisper Sandals - Women's:
Bought the sandals planning to wear it in Hawaii, but ended up wearing it everyday. Really comfortable for walking and biking.
Only problem I had was it was 1/2 size larger than I expected. I usually wear 7, so I ordered 7 online. When I got it, it was loose. Went to the store and exchange it for 6.5.

I wish I read other reviews before buying these shoes and breaking them in. I had the problem with the heel coming out of the shoe. I did not notice the problem when standing/walking around REI when trying them out. I was actually excited that there was a shoe that accommodated my rather narrow feet. Plus, with the boxed in toe area, I could avoid accidentally ripping my toenail off again when hiking (ouchie!).Later down the track I noted that my heel extended over the shoe by 3cm or more. At the same time there would be several finger widths worth of space in the toe area. I couldn't figure out why this was so. I tried alternately tightening and loosening and eventually leaving the bungy strap undone, but the same thing happened every time. The whole foot would slip back off the shoe despite the heel strap around the back. It didn't hurt to walk in them like that though. What did hurt was when I used the shoe to hike through muddy/sandy places. The dirt and bits o' debris gets lodged under the shoe or under the straps and starts to rub and cause blisters. If I know I am going to be getting my feet wet, I will wear some thin black sock liners underneath. That works well to stop the abrading. It is difficult to remove debris from the shoes. The shoe usually has to come off to empty it. Another one of my beefs about this shoe is that it contains AEGIS. I called the company and they stated that this AEGIS incorporates nanoparticles in its products. I have stopped buying Merrell shoes for this reason (they openly advertise it on their shoes, Keens does not). I have kept wearing these shoes, hoping to wear them out quickly so I can replace them. Unfortunately, the shoe seems to be well-made and looks brand new despite 2 years of on/off use...so I guess I am stuck with them for a while. Can anyone explain why such an open shoe has a 'waterproof' label sewn on to the side of the shoe?!?!?!?

These sandals are great! I have trouble finding shoes that fit and that are comfortable. These sandals are both comfortable to walk in and fit my narrow feet. I wear them EVERY day!

I wear these shoes constantly. They're comfortable enough for daily use, for fitness walks, exercising, etc. I've worn them on the beach, kickboxing, hiking, around the house, shopping, etc. I wish I had 5 other colors! I've been pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and durable they are. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a well designed, lightweight, comfortable fitness shoe.

Loved these shoes for the first hour or so of wear--fit perfectly, but gradually my heel got pushed off the back of the shoe. Even when I loosened the straps, my foot still eventually was pushed back. I have a narrow foot, so my thought is that my high instep caused this to occur. I eventually took them back. So BEWARE if your midfoot is elevated--I think this pushes your foot backward on the shoe. Maybe a larger size would help this problem? Wish my feet worked for this shoe, cause I loved them otherwise.

Love the color. Blends in with all my clothes. Didn't have a problem with breaking in shoes. Got alot of compliments on the style. Enjoyed wearing the shoes everywhere I traveled in Scandinavia. I enjoyed wearing the shoes with toe pads and ankle socks.

I have skinny legs and narrow feet. With my original Keens (the H2 style) I looked like a duck. Their "ugliness" was my only complaint. These, however, are narrower, more feminine, but just as comfy and practical as the others. My family and I really put our Keens through a lot given their versatility (day hikes, hikes over streams, paddling, day at the park, school, beach, travel) and we've never had a pair fail us.

I only put "feels too narrow" because it fits my feet - hooray! I wear an 8.5 AA usually, and have both narrow (side-to-side) and thin (top to bottom) feet. I got the 8.5 and it fits quite well. I was delighted to find some Keens that run narrower, because I feel like you could fit 2 of my feet in all of their other models that I have tried to-date! This style is much narrower than others.
Pluses of this shoe are that it protects your toes from stubbing on rocks, logs, etc.; it has a fair amount of space between straps so if you get a rock in the shoe, you can shake it out the side fairly easily; it is fairly secure on the feet, although my feet had a little bit of side-to-side "slop" (in part because of the narrowness of my feet); and it is softer than other all-webbing water shoes.
I have used these for casual athletic use and walks by / in the river, the primary drawback I have found so far is that they dry very slowly for me. I used them in the river one day while camping and they took nearly 24 hours to dry in 80-90 degree weather (off my feet) and part of that time was in direct sun. I try not to wear wet shoes because they chafe my feet worse than when dry (this is the reason I abandoned my last pair of Chacos), so I was out these shoes for most of a day when I would have liked to be wearing secure-sandals instead of less supportive flip-flops. I may see if they dry faster when worn than off the feet.
