Comments about REI Sub Kilo +15 Sleeping Bag - Women's Long - '08 Overstock:
The only thing I've found that makes this bag less than perfect is that it won't get up and make the coffee in the morning. Other than that, it does everything I want it to.
It packs small. I like to bike-camp with just two panniers, and I don't own any of the monster sized ones. So I bought a compression stuff sack for this. I can get it down to almost as small as a nalgene water bottle.
It's light. Less than two pounds! But it doesn't sacrafice warmth. I'm a desert dweller, and I look for a jacked when the temperature gets below 80F/27C. I almost never set up a tent. Yet, with this bag and the normal layers I'd have with me for day use, I've never yet slept cold.
It's high quality. I've never had feathers leak. My zipper doesn't snag.
It's comfortable and roomy. I'm 5'7"/170 cm. A salesman talked me out of the regular and into the long. I have plenty of room to snuggle down and curl up in it. Occasionally, my dog snuggles in with me. (Though she usually provides enough extra warmth that we often don't zip the bag above the waist when she's there. Not often. But it's big enough we can when we want to.)
Wonderful as it is, nothing lasts forever. With the price as low as it is, I'm giving serious consideration to getting a spare to hang in the back of the closet to use when my current bag bites the dust.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +15 Sleeping Bag - Women's Long - '08 Overstock:
I bought this bag with weight, size and rating in mind for a camping trip out in the deserts of Egypt. While camping at night cowboy style, I was only was cold one night (temps would get down into the 30s), which may have been more my fault than the bag's as I didn't eat dinner that evening due to stomach issues. I woke to condensation all over the bag each of the three mornings, but it would wipe off easily. The nylon would be just a tad damp on the outside after wiping it down, so I would throw it in a bigger mesh bag and let the warm sun dry it out during the day.
My only complaint to this bag is the zipper. It doesn't snag, but it doesn't move very easily--almost like it is snagging.
Overall I'm pleased with the bag and I'm glad I bought it! It's great bang for the buck!!

Absolutely fantastic. It's incredibly lightweight, warm, and compressible. I got it for a great price 2 years ago, and have been extremely pleased with it. I love having the adjustable hood and collar.
I'm 5'7" and bought the long, and in retrospect wish I had gotten the regular. With the extra space down at the feet, my feet get cold sometimes, and I don't think that would happen if it fit me more snugly.
I've also had the zipper snag sometimes, but it's easily prevented if you pull the draft tube back when zipping or unzipping.

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +15 Sleeping Bag - Women's Long - '08 Overstock:
I absolutely love this sleeping bag. I'm 5'6 and was talked into getting the longer version, and I definitely don't regret it. It's nice and roomy for fair weather camping, and on colder nights it's easy to shove extra clothing at the feet for warmth.
I cannot comment on long term durability, as I have only had this bag about a year. However, it's seen a LOT of use this last year. I have had no problems with down leakage and it has held up beautifully (and I'm pretty rough on gear). With a compression sack I can get it down to the size of my nalgene, which is pretty unbelievable for the price I paid.
I would be cautious before using this in temperatures below 25 degrees. I woke up a little chilly when the temperatures started to drop in the 20's, but I am also a desert rat not accustomed to the cold. :P

Comments about REI Sub Kilo +15 Sleeping Bag - Women's Long - '08 Overstock:
I've had this sleeping bag for a few years, and it just hasn't stood the test of time. When I first bought this bag, it was warm and fantastic. It does have the advantage of being very lightweight, but I think this also affects its durability. I have always treated my bag with care (aired it out after use, slept in a liner to prevent getting the down greasy and dirty, stored it spread out, washed sparingly and correctly, etc).
With 3 years of gentle but regular use backpacking and car camping, this sleeping bag is now absolutely useless. It has slowly leaked down, and what little is left is very broken down and compressed. It is now so flimsy it doesn't even keep me warm on a 50 degree summer night.
I have another warmer, name-brand down bag that is still in great condition after 10 years. This bag just didn't last as long as it should have for the price.

This bag makes sleeping easy! My feet stay warm, the zipper draft protector actually works, and I can move around in it real easily. I love that the hood is not too big. I've gotten lost in other mummy bags, trapped and scared in the middle of the night. I'm never scared with Sub Kilo. She's very pretty too.

I've used this bag on a couple of trips to the Sierras. From 3 days to weeklong backpacking trips on the John Muir trail. Much of the time above 10,000 ft. It is very warm and snuggly but I find it just a little too tight in the shoulders. I have to lay with my arms along my sides all night or unzip the bag and put my arms outside if I want to roll over or curl up my arms. I am 5'10" 175 lbs. I ordered the long. Some of my other more petite female backpacking friends have it and they love it.I think it's a great value for the price.

Before I bought this one, I had a 15 degree synthetic bag and I was ALWAYS cold. I just got back from backpacking the East Rose Bud trail in the Beartooth's and a few nights in the Crazy Mountains and was NEVER cold!! And the temp got down to about 25 degrees. No long underwear or additional layers necessary. Although I do use a cocoon silk liner. It really is only 2lbs and now I don't have to pack long underwear?! Great investment in getting that pack weight down. I did find 2 or 3 feathers that had come out over the course of 9 days of backpacking, but that doesn't bother me. I was initially worried because of a review I had read, but not anymore!

I am a larger girl 5'10" and thick, this bag was extremely snug, but it did work. I found it to be very comfortable, lightweight and mostly warm. I could feel the cold air coming in where the zipper is but otherwise great bag!
