The REI Zephyr sleeping bag's light, compressible insulation and unique construction work together to maximize warmth when the temperature dips.

    • REI-exclusive Z-Baffle construction combines 2 insulations that together maximize heat retention far more efficiently than a single insulation
    • Mummy shape is thermally efficient, yet roomy enough from shoulder to knee to ensure sleeping comfort
    • Hood, insulated muffler and full-length zipper draft tube keep heat in and cold out
    • Exterior chest pocket is great for stowing small necessities such as your watch, eyeglasses and lip balm, alleviating middle-of-the-night fumbling
    • Special pocket can be stuffed to make a pillow that stays in place; no need for a pillow to take up valuable space in your backpack
    • Pad loops provide attachment points to keep your sleeping bag and pad together, so you needn't worry about rolling onto the cold ground (straps sold separately)
    • Differentiated drawcords allow quick identification, even in the dark—neck or hood adjustments are a cinch!
    • Ripstop nylon shell offers durability with abrasion- and tear-resistance for years of use
    • Nylon stuff sack and cotton storage bag are included
    • Special buy

Ever notice how most sleeping bags are made out of 1 type of insulation? When you sleep, you lose heat in different ways. While convective heat loss is generally regulated by loft, radiation (in the infrared range) will be best reflected by fibers whose size closely matches the wavelength of your emitted radiation. With this in mind, we've combined a burly, durable, lofty continuous filament insulation that's good at blocking air movement with a soft, fine, thermally bonded fiber optimized to reflect back your radiant heat. This creates a warmer, softer, loftier and more compressible bag than single insulation bags.

This is a great bag, I camp in hammocks with it often and it keeps me quite warm. I have tent camped with it many times and have never had a problem. I've had it about 2 years and its still as warm as the first trip. I Definitely recommend it.

Comments about REI Zephyr +20 Sleeping Bag - Regular - '08 Overstock:

We have used them for 2 seasons, mostly for backpacking. We have never been disappointed. They are very comfortable in +20-65 degree weather. Our only minor issue is the front middle of the bags are open to breezes at zipper's end next to the hoods when zipped together. An extra pillow fixes the issue.

Comments about REI Zephyr +20 Sleeping Bag - Regular - '08 Overstock:

I spent two weeks in the Alaska outback with this sleeping bag. It was great when it was dry, but 5 days of rain in, the bag had absorbed a good deal of (tent) moisture and I found it not to be as warm as I hoped. That said, using a silk liner helped tremendously. My bag is probably the '07 or '06 version.

Comments about REI Zephyr +20 Sleeping Bag - Regular - '08 Overstock:

For the price, this bag is pretty good. Being vertically challenged this bag was a good length for me, taller campers may have some trouble with the length. The width across the chest is a little snug but it does the job. The external pocket was a good bonus and all the straps were what you would expect from more expensive bags. Overall, it is a good comfortable bag, I would recomend this item to my friends.

Comments about REI Zephyr +20 Sleeping Bag - Regular - '08 Overstock:

This is an excellent, light weight 3-season synthetic bag. I have been wanting to lower the weight of my gear but after three years of having this bag I have yet to see a lighter weight synthetic with this temp rating that isnt very expensive for just a few oz saved.

Oh and for those reviews saying the temperature rating is wrong feel free to ignore them. They complain that the bag was not warm under freezing conditions. What I think they fail to recognize is that a sleeping bag temp rating is not a guarentee of the temp you will be warm at it is a guarentee of the temp you will SURVIVE at. If you want comfort go with a bag rated at least 10 degree rating below the expected night time temperature for your trip. I've slept in this bag around 30 degree temperatures and it was fine. I bet at 20 degrees it would be quite cold but I wouldn't die so the 20 degree rating is pretty spot on.

Comments about REI Zephyr +20 Sleeping Bag - Regular - '08 Overstock:

Nice, roomy bag ... durable ... zipper doesn't snag as easily as many bags ... lots of room to roll around in the bag if you're a tosser/turner ... packs small ... fabric is smooth & doesn't feel "sticky" after a few nights in it (like some do) ... the 20 degree rating may be for survival, but I've slept out in it at around 32 degrees and was extremely cold all night, unable to sleep. I'd recommend this bag, but as a 30 degree bag instead of a 20 degree bag.

I've used this bag in mid-summer with temp around 70-80 degrees at night and I've used it in winter with temp around 30 at night. I've never been too hot or too cold. Fits well in a pack and surprisingly light for the price. I just bought a second one.

this has been a great bag for the money. i have used it on many weekend outings with the Boy Scout troop i am involved with. my only small disappointment has been the temp rating. the 20 degree rating has not been very accurate for me. i have used it in 20ish degree weather but remained cold at night. i think a 30 degree rating would be more accurate.

Comments about REI Zephyr +20 Sleeping Bag - Regular - '08 Overstock:

I gave this bag to my 15 yr old son who is an outdoorsman and Boy Scout. The bag will be used often in a variety of activities and climates. He loves the bag for being lightweight and easy to pack, comfortable, and so far no problems with the zipper. The pocket is an awesome feature! We live in Minnesota and he just returned from an outdoor camp - the boys slept in a snow shelter all night with outdoor temp at 0 degrees. My son slipped his fleece blanket inside and stayed warm all night! The bag is perfect for our variety of outdoor activities in 4 seasons (although for winter weather you will need a liner). The bag is quality constructed and I expect it will hold up to a teenager's use! For the price, you can't go wrong! My son's youth bag was a North Face bag, and he feels this bag is equally wonderful.
