Nimble and not about to take the back wheel to any competitor, the Cannondale F5 hardtail bike is a performance-minded ride that won't bust the bank.

  • Strong T6061 aluminum CO2 SL frame offers a solid, lightweight ride on smooth or bumpy terrain; externally butted headtube improves strength and helps reduce weight
  • RockShox Dart 3 suspension fork boasts 100mm of travel; TurnKey™ lockout is a reliable, simple system with on/off setting and patented blow-off mechanism
  • SRAM drivetrain with FSA cranks delivers smooth, crisp shifts and 27 gears for those long uphill grinds and the more enjoyable downhill pursuits
  • If fate has it that you should need to slow down, Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes have got you covered
  • Jalco Disc X320 rims are laced up with stainless-steel spokes and outfitted with Kenda Nevegal foldable tires to keep you rollin' right
  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

      Comments about Cannondale F5 Bike - 2009:

Spent months comparing this Cannondale f5 vs. Gary Fisher's Wahoo and Marlin, plus Specialized and Trek's sub $1,000 bikes. The f5 yields the best in values and beauty. When you ride the f5, you will clearly know why it is Cannondale's best selling model. It is smooth and sleek in road as well as off road riding.

        Comments about Cannondale F5 Bike - 2009:

My wife and I are avid hikers, we love to hike and take backcountry trips. Wanting to see more and cover more ground in a day we decided to try mountain bikes to help in this endeavor. We researched many brands and rode many bikes, and finally settled on the F5. We absolutely LOVE these bikes good mix of components for the money. We would definitely buy these again and recommend them to all our friends. We now cover 5 times as much ground in a day, problem is now we dont slow down enough to smell the flowers.

          Comments about Cannondale F5 Bike - 2009:

Just getting back into mountain biking after 15 years away from the sport. I use it on a mix of light single track and trails. The bike is light and responsive. Good components. Also, the "BBQ" finish looks awesome (If the CIA were looking for a mountain bike for a clandestine nighttime operation, this would be it). Stock saddle is terrible, plan on replacing it (this seems to apply to most mountain bikes).
