Riding a 29er can be a soulful experience, one which the Cannondale 29er 2 is built to channel almost telepathically into your brain space. Drop in, fly and revel in the experience.

  • T6061 aluminum Caffeine 29 BB30 frame uses a butted top tube, down tube, seat tube and seatstays to reduce weight while maintaining strength
  • BB30 bottom bracket shell design helps reduce weight further while increasing stiffness, thanks to pressed-in bearing cups and an oversized spindle and bigger shell
  • Lefty 29er Speed suspension fork provides 80mm of travel to absorb landings, roots, rocks and all those other bumpy things on the trail
  • Quickly snap through gears with the SRAM X-5 trigger shifters; Shimano Deore/SRAM X-7 derailleurs make the 27-speed drivetrain an effortless extension of your pedaling prowess
  • Avid Juicy 3 hydraulic disc brakes and levers lay down some serious stopping power, thanks in part to the pairing of a 185mm rotor up front and a 160mm rotor in the back
  • Jalco X320 29 in. rims are laced up with DT Swiss Champion spokes and outfitted with Continental Race King 29x2.2 in. tires for all-terrain handling and traction
  • Specs are subject to change

After its initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Contact your nearest REI bike shop for details and an appointment for this important service.

Comments about Cannondale 29er 2 Bike - 2009:

I use this bike for some light trail work and some casual road cruising. This is a comfortable bike, and the 29" wheels make for an incredibly smooth ride on or off road. The tires are good for either. For the price, the components could be a little better. The X-5 shifters with the X-7 rear derailleur need constant adjustment to stay accurate, and there is a lot of noise coming from the front hub. The brakes also squeal like pigs under even light use. I'll be upgrading some of the components, and I think that will make this bike one I can live with for a long time.

    Comments about Cannondale 29er 2 Bike - 2009:

This bike WILL make a better rider. Yes, I've drank the 29'er Kool-aid, but you really should try it too. The bike climbs and descends like nobody's business. The Lefty is plush. The Avid Juicy brakes are nice (once they've broken in). Some of the components however, leave a bit to be desired. The seat and seatpost are some of the worst I've seen on a Cannondale. Over all though, the bike is awesome!
