The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

by fromFunctional, durable I mostly use this tire for commutes when there may be patches of frost and/or black ice--but most of the trip could be made on regular tires. Vibration and noise from studs on bare pavement is perceptible but not problematic. Carbide studs show little/no wear even though mostly ridden on bare, dry pavement. Tires grip well on frost/ice: At stops--when I put a foot down--I often notice that the pavement is very slippery--yet the tires are holding firm. Grip is pretty good on traffic-packed snow. Grip is marginal in 3+ inches of loose and/or churned-up snow on top of ice or packed snow--would recommend wider, knobbier version of this tire if riding regularly in over 3 inches of loose snow. One quibble with tire is the way the tires come from the factory with many of the studs NOT fully seated in the tire--you are supposed to ride tire on bare, smooth pavement to seat them. I chose to set the studs by tapping them in with a small hammer.

by fromLong Live Winter! I am a student at BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho and it snows about 6 months of the year here and plowing is mediocre at best. I needed to cut back on how much money I spend on gas so I started riding my bike to school. I waned to continue to ride through the Winter so I bought these tires. Compared to the prices of other studded tires these are a flat-out steal! I feel more comfortable riding on these tires than I do walking on the roads. They work perfectly on ice, snow, and pavement. There are really only two downsides to these tires. They are difficult to put on and you're supposed to ride them on a hard surface for the first 30 miles to embed the studs so buy them long before your first snow storm. Other than that, Winter commuters, eat your heart out!
