Comments about Topeak MTX Basket Rear:
This is great for those quick trips to the store for a bottle of milk, eggs and bread, it is stable and easy to get on and off. Plus you can use it in store and flip people out that your basket is not the stores, I have a strange sense of humor!

Comments about Topeak MTX Basket Rear:
This is a great basket for shopping trips and running errands. It is easy to install and to take on and off. I did need to raise my seat quite a bit for clearance, so if you're short, you might want to consider that. The only problem I've had with it is the handle pops out easily when it is "at rest" but it isn't a problem when I'm carrying it.

Comments about Topeak MTX Basket Rear:
This basket is exactly what I needed for commuting, taking my dog to the park, grocery shopping, and leisure riding. The geometry on my bike is such that the basket sits behind the seat, not below it. So I don't have a problem with it getting in the way of the saddle. (My bike is an XS Novara Forza.) The basket rattles a little even when secured in it's topeak rack when it's empty or weighted unevenly, but I don't have that problem when I put more weight in it. I love this basket and would recommend it to anyone, as long as it fits with the geometry of your bike. (Reflective sash in picture purchased separately.)

Comments about Topeak MTX Basket Rear:
I agree with another reviewer that if you have your seat positioned correctly you won't be able to utilize the quick release, I had to secure it with bungies in order for it to stay in place while riding and also the basket itself isn't exactly light so when you are carrying groceries in it the carry handle bends quite a bit and constantly is detaching from the basket. It does have a lot of room and is a good concept.

Comments about Topeak MTX Basket Rear:
If you look at the picture on this basket's packaging you'll notice that the seat post on the display bike is about a foot out of the fame. There is a reason for that.
The basket sits very close to the front of the rack (This basket only quick mounts on TOPEAK products) If your bike is properly sized you wont have enough space under your seat for the basket. You can get around this by mounting the basket further back, but of course you will have to hard mount it directly to the rack and that kind of defeats the purpose of a quick release basket...
All in all it is not a bad basket, but you will want to bring your bike to REI to see if you will actually be able to mount it on your rack.

Comments about Topeak MTX Basket Rear:
I've purchased this bike basket twice. I love that I can fit an entire bag of groceries in it and my purse without anything ever falling out. The down side is that the back bottom corners rust very quickly (within two months). This has happened on both of them even though my bike is rarely in the rain. My first one lasted about a year before it rusted so badly (around the bracket attachment) that it went flying off my bike in the middle of a busy street. After this one rusts through completely I'll probably just replace it with a milk crate.
