    I had been using an older pair of black diamond contact strap crampons, but I wanted crampons that had a bit more bite in icy conditions and semi-automatic bindings. The Petzl Charlet Vasak Leverlock Crampons have worked out great - I've had them for two years now and have not had any problems with them.

    I purchased the Petzl Charlet Vasak crampons a couple of years ago and overall they work great. Great on steep terain and heavy snow. I did run into a slight problam when I was half way up a steep slope in the Sawtooths. Somehow, the Flexlock adjustment came completely apart from the front portion of the crampon rendering my one crampon useless. I didn't have a screwdriver with me to fix the problam and I was stuck on a very steep slope with only one working crampon.
