Comments about Kelty Good Nite Air Bed w/ Footpump - Queen:

I bought this air mattress so I could save cash on hotel rooms by camping- to allow more mountain biking trips. One thing I didn't like about camping in the past was feeling like I was laying on a pile of rocks...and that is completely fixed with the air mattress.

The size/weight is fine for packing in a car, but if you want to go backpack camping, you'll probably want to get something quite a bit smaller/lighter.

They need to improve the foot pump, though. It is cool that it is included and it works; but I timed the inflation and it took a solid 15 minutes of steady foot pumping to inflate. Part of the issue is that the pump has too much blow-by, where some of the air gets pumped out the "intake" hole. If they improved the one-way valves to make the pump more efficient and sealed the seams better, the pump would probably be much faster.

Comments about Kelty Good Nite Air Bed w/ Footpump - Queen:

Building my car-camping arsenal after years of backpacking. In looking for a mattress, saw this Kelty at the local REI and was fairly excited at the cost/value promise; I debated the manual foot pump, but decided to go that direction - after all, that's what Dad did on our camping trips growing up.

On getting it home and inflating for the VERY FIRST time for a backyard camp-out, the top of the footpump snapped in half, rendering the pump absolutely useless. Ended up blowing it up manually, which is a heck of a thing to do with a queen-sized mattress. And the size fits very nicely in the small end of my Flying Diamond 6, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Once inflated it was great; but if you can't inflate it reliably with the pump that's included, you're stuck! I've used my share of foot-pumps, and this one's just plain cheap and/or poorly made. Going to look at other models with electric pumps.

Bottom line - decent mattress, extremely disappointing construction on the inflation device. Just glad I was in my backyard and not at a campsite where failure would have been WAY more frustrating than it was.

Comments about Kelty Good Nite Air Bed w/ Footpump - Queen:

Ok. I've never had an inflated mattress for camping before and look like never will. I have a Z lite pad for my hiking trips, but last weekend I decided to take my 3 year old toddler to a campsite for her first over-night trip.
I thought that I'll be ok with this mattress for my entire family.
First, I set up a pump and asked my nephew to finish inflation while helping to pitch another tent. Two minutes later he told me that he broke the pump and sure he did. I do not know how, but the plastic part of the pump cracked in half. Ok. I used my mouth. Everything was fine. Mattress was inflated and comfortable. Around 1 am I woke up because I felt the ground. I was not happy; I had to add some air. Then I did it at 4am and 7am it was partially deflated again.
It was the worst camp night I've ever had.
The only useful thing is a mattress bag.
I am going to return it tomorrow. I'll buy therm-a-Rest sleeping pads with universal couple kit.

Comments about Kelty Good Nite Air Bed w/ Footpump - Queen:

We replaced our old mattress for car camping with the Kelty. It's a queen vs. a full size yet much smaller for packing due to its thickness. The 5 inches of air was plenty and the bed was quite comfortable! In the past we've used a double-pump hand pump to inflate which took some time but was better than blowing it up by mouth. The foot pump is a dream comparatively. Of course it takes a few minutes to do - it's not a plug-in motorized pump - but is by far much easier than a hand pump. We'd not rather have to rely on electricity or batteries. The storage bag is ideal as well, especially for an organized camper/traveler!
        Loved it all!!
