Comments about DivaCup - Model 1:
This is a very easy to use (after a bit of time getting used to it) product. It is a responsible product as well. NO waste and its reusable. No having to carry around tampons or pads and no having to pack used ones out of the backcountry.

Comments about DivaCup - Model 1:
I was a little hesitant to try the Diva Cup. It looked big to me and I thought it would surely be uncomfortable. But I decided to buy it (knowing I could return it if need be). It was a little tricky at first trying to insert it. But I learned how to fold it, making it smaller and after a couple attempts I am now an expert (I've only had it for two months) (also, lubrication might help too if you're struggling). One day I forgot it and had to resort to a tampon (which I've used fine for 14 years). I could feel the tampon, and the cotton felt uncomfortable, I really missed my Diva Cup. It can be a little messy to take out, but I do it in the shower or over a toilet. I will never go back to tampons or pads. I am a Diva Believa for life!!

Comments about DivaCup - Model 1:
I bought my Diva Cup about a 6 months ago and I will never again use tampons. I would say there is a bit of a learning curve, as it is not inserted as you would a tampon, but it easy to use once you've practiced. It comes with good, extensive instructions on how to use it. The first time I used it it might have taken 10-15 minutes to remove and insert with much trial and error. Now I can do the same in about 1-2 minutes. It's so much better than tampons or pads. I always had leakage problems with tampons, especially when swimming, but not with the Diva Cup. I mean really, you go backpacking, hike 6 miles up a mountain in 90 degree weather to the beautiful pristine lake, and then can't even go swimming because you are menstruating. Not with the Diva cup! Ya, not to mention zero waste. No trekking in feminine products and trekking them out. Just one little dealio that you carry inside of you, if you are on your period.
One word of advice about the Diva Cup. I would highly recommend buying the Diva Wash. Not sure if REI sells it, but if they sell the Diva Cup itself they should. Other soaps can have a corrosive effect on it (as stated in the instructions which you should read in full). Also, if the soaps have any fragrance it will permeate and soak into the Diva cup and not go away. This happened to my friend and she had to buy a new one, and they aren't exactly cheap.
Also, make sure when you are removing it to hold on very tight. Like, for dear life. You don't want it to slip out of your grasp and fall into the toilet or worse - pit toilet. If that were to happen while you are camping then you would be completely without any backup, because like me, you would most likely have thought you don't need to haul in all of the other feminine products that you don't even use any more.

Comments about DivaCup - Model 1:
This is hands down the most life changing product I've invested on... ever! It has always been extremely frustrating to me, as a minimalist, that it was all but necessary for me to subscribe to the wastefulness and hassle of female feminine products. The days of having to carry, use, and dispose of messy tampons on extended backpacking trips are over!
The Diva cup, for me, is just as easy to put in and take out as a tampon. Just tip it over, pour it out, and put it back in.

Comments about DivaCup - Model 1:
I just bought my second one. Had the first for like 5 years. It seems like they improved it a tiny bit. Is the texture different? Maybe it'll have better suction. I mean, it's no problem most of the time, but I like to sit all weird and put my knees up a lot and every once in a while this seems to squish it in a way that lets... liquids.. flow past. But what can you expect? Physics happen.
This thing is great.

Comments about DivaCup - Model 1:
It does take a little practice to get the cup in correctly. Make sure you can hear or feel it pop in place... or you'll have leakage. I recommend using a panty liner the first day or on heavy days... just incase there is a little leakage.
Make sure you clean out the holes in the top of the cup to ensure a secure fit.
This saves me loads of money on femine products and I don't have to pack so much when I travel. I've been using my cup for a little over one year. It has become stained, but still works great. I plan on ordering a new one in the next month of so.

I have only used this product for a couple of days, but I love it! After reading all the reviews, I decided to try it. No mess, no leaking, no problems. I have a really heavy day (changing a super every hour) and I didn't have to rush to the restroom once!! You will not regret buying the Divacup.

Comments about DivaCup - Model 1:
I was hesitant to buy my Diva Cup because I have never had good success with tampons and I was concerned, but after my first period, I'm never going back to anything else!
I didn't really have much trouble using it at all and though I think I would advise to use cautiously the first month with at very least a liner on just in case, I never did have even a drop escape. I found it very easy to get in and out and much less of a hassle than pads since I only had to empty it at most three times in one day.
It can be messy but whatever mess it is, is worth it for me and my bathroom to not smell like period for several days and to not be constantly worrying about my period interfering with my life. I also felt so much cleaner than I ever have during my period, so much so I almost forgot I was even on my period once or twice! And as far as I could tell, it doesn't seem to shift enough to dislodge it or cause leaks at all, as least for me. And at 1oz it is perfect for my ultra light backpacking style!
I have no idea how the one reviewer got it stuck since I've never even been able to get it far enough in to really ever feel like I couldn't get at it. It goes as far as the box says it should and just will not go any further.

Comments about DivaCup - Model 1:
When I first saw this at a local health foods store, I was slightly disgusted... however, after doing some research, I changed my mind and purchased one. WOW! The DivaCup has completely altered the way I view "that time of the month". I no longer have to worry about TSS, running to the bathroom every couple hours, leaking and ruining whatever I'm wearing, carrying a ton of tampons and pads with me, and all the other crummy things that go along with a period. Learning to use it does take some time and attention, so be patient with yourself, because if you can hang in there and figure out how to use the divacup, the payoff is big!

Comments about DivaCup - Model 1:
This is the most AMAZING thing ever. I have heavy flow, and was always sick of using tampons or pads. They were uncomfortable and disgusting.
My Diva Cup is so easy to use, comfortable, versatile, and (one I learned the best way to do it) easy to clean even in the backwoods!
-No more packing in/out nasty tampons
-No more *oops I left that in too long feeling
-No more messy leaks
-No more uncomfortable pads or tampons
-No more buying pads or tampons
You can swim with it, camp, backpack, or do daily activities. I have been using mine for years.
**Trick for backpacking, rinse with water first, and then use a little alcohol pad when you feel the need to sanitize.
