The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Polar FT80 Heart Rate Monitor - Men's:
I've used the FT80 regularly for five months. The chest strap is very comfortable [44" chest]. I use the FT80 for running, cycling, and exercise routines. The chest sensor to wrist monitor link is very reliable - dampen the pads first! The FT80 provides several different views during exercise of heartrate, training zones, calories expended, duration, etc., so it's a very flexible training aid. When you define a training program in the FT80, you get encouraging messages of congratulations for meeting your weekly goals, or admonishing ones urging you to train harder!
Using the FlowLink pad [uploads training data to the Polar website] adds whole new dimensions to your training - chart your progress, build training programs that are sport-specific, and share results with friends. If you DON'T plan on using the FlowLink or the features of polarpersonaltrainer.com, go for a less-expensive HR monitor that doesn't have these features.
The ONLY couple of downsides to the FT80 are 1) there's a lot of reflection on the display, which can make it hard to read at a glance if you're running in bright sunlight with trees overhead, for example; and 2) the smaller digits on the display can be difficult to read at a glance while backlit [I run before dawn, typically] by my 50-year-old eyes. The wrist unit display could really use a greater degree of contrast, and the crystal could use an antireflective coating on both inside and outside.
The HeartTouch feature - bump the wrist unit against the chest sensor, and it beeps, turns on the backlight, and switches to the time view, is very handy - you can see if you're going to make it home from your run in time to get the kids up in the morning!
All in all, I really like the utility and versatility of the FT80 when paired with Polar's polarpersonaltrainer.com resources. Used diligently, they will help you reach your goals!

Comments about Polar FT80 Heart Rate Monitor - Men's:
original black on white display is difficult to read without lots of light -- really poor contrast even if you tweak it (google for instructions on accessing the service menu). if shopping for a new watch, i'd compare the new WD model with a white on black display[...]
