Comments about The North Face Trailhead 6 Tent:
This is actually my second review for this tent. There had previously been several negative reviews including my own. It is beyond me why REI would once again carry this inferior product(and omit the reviews).
Don't be fooled by the price tag (only about $100 less than some of Northface's top-notch mountaineering tents), this tent is not worth the price. My problems began the first time I set this tent up; the entire floor sepperated from the seam beginning where the pole is inserted (trust me, no excessive force was used). Ok...a two-hour ride back to civilization, one large roll of duct-tape...problem solved. I then began attaching the fly. I was surprised that the fly must be guyed down with separate stakes and not attached to the points where the poles are inserted as is with most tents this style even of modest quality. Furthermore, you must attach four additional guy-lines for the sides of the tent to hold their shape even in nice weather. The result...several trip-lines; perfect for family camping. In fairness, I will mention, the tent was roomy, comfortable and water-proof. However, a much better tent can be had for the price.

Comments about The North Face Trailhead 6 Tent:
Just back from Sequoia National Forest with a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids). The tent was easy to set up and roomy once we settled in. Used 1 inflatable queen mattress and two sleeping pads and had space for couple of large duffles. The tent isn't exactly freestanding as I understood it: without staking out the corners, the poles only support the middle part of the tent and the sides are unusable, so no just throwing up the tent and jumping in. The rainfly is pretty easy to set up and the vestibule it provides was very useful as an entranceway and utility room. Even without tying down the guy wires the fly mostly held its shape. The summer night time temperature at our elevation(7000 feet) was cool/cold and the tent did an adequate job of keeping us comfortable(although we did have cold noses in the morning). With utility pockets above both room dividers and along the bottom edge of one wall, loops to hang lamps and such, the tent provided a very organized home away.

Comments about The North Face Trailhead 6 Tent:
Excellent tent. Very easy to set up despite a previous reviewer's comments. Four poles set up the tent and everything is color coded. Only one additional pole is needed to add the rain fly. After a few times setting it up, two people can set it up and stake it down (including rain fly) in about 10 mins. Very sturdy and the rain fly is leak proof.
Only complaint is that there is little ventilation when the rain fly is used. This is fine during the spring and fall, but in the summer the tent can get pretty hot with the rainfly attached (as can all tents). The side windows are large but do not have zip covers (like the doors do). That would have been a nice touch. Also, it would have been nice if the rainfly offered some ventilation at the top where the top of the tent is mesh. Maybe sometime of velcro pop up vent like on the Half Dome rain fly would allow warm air to ventilate through the top of the tent when the rain fly is attached. Those are minor complaints, and if you're serious about it you can have a seamstress sew in some window zip covers and add some velcro vents in the top of the rainfly like I did. But overall this is the best car-camping tent out there, IMHO.

Comments about The North Face Trailhead 6 Tent:
We've had this tent for over a year now and love it. Any frequent car camping family should own it, if they can afford it. Our two kids can play card games in the tent during a down time, read books at night, and have their own rooms if they wanted.
It is very roomy. There is space for two adults, two kids, two big dogs, many bags and much more. And I can stand up in it to change clothes. (I'm 5'1"...)
One night, it dumped a sheet of water for a few hours. The next morning the inside the tent was completely dry, wall, floor and all. The fly did a great job.
My husband can set it up by himself or with a "help" of our young eager campers.
This is like Taj in the woods.

Comments about The North Face Trailhead 6 Tent:
We have had this tent for quite a few years now and it's fantastic. Here in the Rocky Mountains we have withstood some very high winds, rain, hail and snowstorms and the tent holds its own and doesn't budge. Not once have we been wet. We are a family of four with two dogs and with all our gear, night table and heater there is still plenty of room. The rainfly is pulled away from the tent so it doesnt touch it and it comes completely to the ground giving you full coverage and protection. I would highly recommend this tent to others and will say that many a camper has been envious of our tent!

Comments about The North Face Trailhead 6 Tent:
I first bought this product to replace an old leaky tent. The first day I used it, I set it up in the rain with my 9 year old son. The set up is foolproof-the appropriate poles go into like colored sleeves. I've been in very stiff winds in this tent with nary a shudder. The other people we car camp with are jealous of this tent for it's ease of set up, it's roominess. I can also tell you, as a Gulf Coast camper, the huge vestibule is a bonus when it comes to keeping out bugs!

Comments about The North Face Trailhead 6 Tent:
Wonderful tent. Set up was relatively easy, took about 10 minutes by myself to have it in move in condition. Poles and stakes are very sturdy and well built, and overall tent design and layout is great. Not sure how you get 6 people in this tent - seemed like it is the perfect size for 4 adult campers - any more and you will be on top of each other! That said, the overall quality of the tent, the fabric, and the design, makes this a top buy from my perspective!
