Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack - 25'':

My husband and I took these all over Europe. One of the lighter suitcases I was able to find. Wheels did great over the cobblestones. Use the great, full of pockets, backpack often around home. Got both my sisters one for their 3 week trips and they found them to very easy to travel with. The only thing that wasn't needed were the staps to wear the entire piece as a backpack.

Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack - 25'':

I love this bag, but it is too big to carry on a plane, which makes it useless to me when traveling. (The last thing I want to worry about in Guatemala is showing up without my bag). So, I'll be returning it this week.

Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack - 25'':

I used this pack as checked baggage on a 3 month trip around the world (Hawaii, Japan, China, India, Nepal, Israel, Jordan and Egypt). It held more than the weight limit on economy international flights. It held together through 26 planes, 5 trains, 3 boats and all the baggage handlers could do to it. It was easy to spot on the luggage carousel and in a pile of tour group luggage. The only change I would recommend would be to provide a way to lock the daypack to the main pack--a lack in all the zip off daypacks I have seen. It was also comfortable on the couple of occasions I used the backpack feature. The wheels worked on a wide variety of hard surfaces.

Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack - 25'':

Ok, first off, this isn't a carry-on bag and isn't marketed as one. Nothing 25" tall will ever fit as a carry-on on any airline. There's a smaller bag for that. But this one has everything I was looking for in a bag. Took it on my first trip in and it worked great. Wheels take all types of terrain with ease and you can pack a lot of stuff in it if you pack wisely. Little features like the flaps that covers up where the day pack zippers off is great and being able to carry it as a backpack when needed it a great feature. I would have given it 5 starts but I've only used it on one trip so far and didn't want to give it too big of an ego until it really proves itself.

Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack - 25'':

I used and checked in this bag to Europe and twice to the Middle East. On the second trip to the Middle East the bottom bracket was broken off on one corner and part of the plastic was broken near one of the wheels. I'm more inclined to believe that the airline rough handled the bag rather than a flawed design. I have since returned this bag and now using the new model of the Osprey Meridian.

You can fit a lot in this bag for a month or more. The zip off pack is nice when visiting museums and tourist places that don't normally allow backpacks. Due to its small size I walked in to many museums and tourist places without having to use a locker or to check it in.

I had the orange like color that is familiar with a lot of REI products. While this was nice in quickly spotting the bag at the carousel, the bag gets marked everywhere and after awhile looks horrible. I recommend a darker color.

If price is the determining factor this is a good bag. The Eagle Creek Switchback Max is a much better bag, but of course much more money.

Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack - 25'':

This is the snazziest bag I've owned, and very functional. I packed for a two week trip (OK, we did make one laundry run). The wheels are high quality, and it is really easy to get this thing rolling over a variety of surfaces. The zippers are great, and it is easy to convert to a backpack (and back again) or remove/re-attach the daypack. There are enough sub-compartments to keep me happy.I really like the idea of the detachable bag, and the backpack functionality. Fact is, though, in 9 recent flights during travel to south america I didn't convert the bag into a backpack once. As for the daypack, it's not large enough to carry my SLR (I don't like to advertise it in a camera bag), a raincoat, and an extra layer. That sounds like a lot to carry daily, but that's the way I travel in the mountains. I used a separate shoulder pack for that, as well as my flight carry-on.Unfortunately, the bag sacrifices a lot of space to make room for the internal backpack frame. As cool as it is to imagine this as a backpack, I find that I prefer to roll it. And if you're a backpack kind of person, you might consider a real backpack with handles (but no wheels!).Additionally, the daypack was removed from my bag in transit. Evidently the bag is attractive! Seriously, it is an easy mark for anyone coming in contact with this bag - 3 snaps, a zipper, and the pack is removed. Without the daypack in my possession, I can't say if there is any way to lock the bags together. [...]Still, 4 stars for this dern useful and handy bag.

Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack - 25'':

The wheels on this bag are great. The weight is distributed nicely when you are using it as a wheelie bag. The only problem I had was when I had to throw the bag on as a backpack to make it to customs ahead of a big crowd to make a short connection(that was fun); the weight isn't as well-distributed as a backpack. Highly recommend it as a regular bag, but if you are planning to primarily wear it as a pack, I would choose something else.

Comments about REI Stratocruiser Wheeled Pack - 25'':

My partner and I used 2 of these bags for a 2 week trip to Holland this past spring. She's a heavy packer but we were each able to get all our belongings into this bag with no issues (we planned a laundry stop at day 6). We checked the bag and carried on the detachable pack. The pack was used non-stop during our day trips while in Holland. It was perfect for carrying passports, camera, GPS, jackets, water etc but was still small enough that it wasnt a pain to carry onto the trains or taxis or into museums, bars, cafes etc. Both bags held up well and show no signs of wear from our trip. Overall we are very satisfied with the purchase.

I love my new luggage! I can fit all I need into it for a 5 day trip, possibly longer. I was able to carry on this piece by detaching the small back pack on the front of the luggage but it had to fit in the bin sideways. FYI. I love the detachable back pack for day trips. This is the first piece of rolling luggage that has actually stood up when its fully packed without falling over constantly. I am very happy with it.
