Comments about REI Madrona Rain Jacket - Women's:
I bought this jacket as an everyday outer layer and love it. It's been through wet and windy weather and kept me dry and warm. This jacket is good for mild weather on it's own or could be used in colder weather as a shell.
Also, the fit is great. I'm 5'6", average build. It is long in the torso and is form fitting, but comfortable with room for layers underneath. The hood fits nice with my hair down but could be a little larger for a rain jacket.

Comments about REI Madrona Rain Jacket - Women's:
Though I loved the jacket, and it performed well in wind and weather, the big problem is that every time you move your left arm it snags on the velcro leaving a pilly mess on the underside of the sleeve. The hood also is a little too short to fully cover the head. Forget about wearing glasses with it as the rain will speckle your lenses.

Comments about REI Madrona Rain Jacket - Women's:
This is a great jacket, but I tend to leave my jackets unzipped. The hook velcro is very strong and catches on the jacket material. After only a few months the left arm fabric started to ball up (like a cheap sweater). If you tend to keep your jacket zipped or you don't mind a worn sleeve I would highly recommend this jacket.

Comments about REI Madrona Rain Jacket - Women's:
I love the way this jacket fits it's very flattering, though it seems a little snug, at least it doesn't look bulky.
I must agree with previous reviewers, the huge problem with this jacket is the velcro on the zipper flap. It's very strong and it snags the jacket material. I've only worn the jacket about a dozen times and the material on the underside of the left arm is very pilled and sloppy looking in comparison with the underside of the right arm (which does not have the opportunity to rub against the velcro).
This velcro snags on EVERYTHING, my hair, my sweaters, my blouses, it put a huge snag in one shirt and I was only walking by the jacket, not even wearing it. I was intending this jacket be my "nice" jacket, so I wanted to keep it looking sharp, but it's just not possible with the velcro the way it is. I intend to return it and get a new one, but use a seam ripper to take the 5 or 6 two-inch patches of velcro off of the jacket all together. The flap looks as though it will lay flat just fine with out them.
