Soft yet sturdy, the REI Sahara shorts feature plenty of pocket space for your trailhead or travel essentials.

  • Soft, breathable nylon fabric is durable and lightweight; it also resists pilling and dries quickly
  • With a UPF 50+ rating, fabric provides excellent protection against harmful ultraviolet rays
  • Flat and flattering waistband features belt loops and zip fly with double snap closure; fits slightly below the belly button
  • Gusseted crotch design moves seams to a more comfortable location and allows unrestricted range of motion
  • Shorts feature 2 low-profile cargo pockets, 2 hand pockets and 2 back pockets with snap/flap closures
  • An additional security zip pocket is found on top of left cargo pocket and also one within the right hand pocket
  • All pockets have either mesh lining or grommet holes for drainage and improved ventilation

      These shorts are great!! I bought them on a whim and boy I am glad. I use them all summer long as a guide in Yellowstone. The are also great for general outdoor activities. Just the right length, sits nicely on the hips (yay no elastic!), and has a ton of pockets. They also look fairly good, not to bulky.

        I wore these shorts backpacking on a 10 day 100 mile trek in Philmont New Mexico on a scout outing. I had shorts from another brand as well that were touted as the best. The other brand was wrong. I LOVE the REI Sahara shorts. On the days that I wore the competitor brand I could not wait until I got back in my Sahara shorts. The pockets, the zippers, the durability of the fabric while scooting down rocks on my rear....all of it performed in an outstanding manner. I traveled across country in them, got wet in the rain in them, slept in them, and have zero complaints. I even lost weight in them. :) I came home to order more to use on my local adventures.

            Very comfortable and lots of pockets. I bought the first pair for kayaking and even soaking wet, by the time I pack up my gear... these shorts are dry before I get into the car. They are so comfortable and functional, I decided to get a few more pairs for everyday wear. I highly recommend them.
