Beautifully made product but seems significantly shorter than 4" (check out 4" UA compression shorts... way longer). I had purchased a number of REI's previous compression shorts, was alway happy with them, and excited with the addition of a pocket, etc... They are great shorts - and even an improvement on the already wonderful old compression shorts. At almost 5'10', however, they rode a little high for the gym and running. I am going back to UA compression shorts, reluctantly. Would recommend to a really petite friend with great legs!

    I'm so glad I found these. The 4" length is perfect. I am a petite size 6 and I bought these in medium as I didn't want/need a lot of compression. I wear them for yoga, pilates, and running. Wish they had other colors such as dark brown or dark navy.
