Comments about REI Halo +10 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I actually own the older version of this bag - the Kilo Plus 0 deg. bag. REI is using a new rating system now so the numbers in the new series have changed slightly. My Kilo Plus is a left zip and I was in the store today checking out the new Halo bags. I planned to buy a right zip bag for my fiancee (I own four bags - all left zip - ha). I worked at REI a few years ago and always assured customers that REI Brand gear was just as good as the "other" brands even if it's a "store brand". Sadly, it looks like REI is cutting some corners with the new line of bags that puts it a few steps behind the competition. The seams are not nearly as tight as my Kilo Plus. The bag - even when hanging in the store, seemed to be leaking down from a lot of the major seams. That is a problem. The most laughable downgrade REI decided to make this year is the exclusion of the sil-nylon compression stuff stack that came standard with my Kilo Plus, Kilo and Kilo Flash bags. Are they serious?! For [$] (even if it would be $400 with a Marmot label) they should have a compression sack! People who pay for 750 fill down and ultra-light shells aren't going to use the brick included with this bag. It also defeats the purpose of having something so compressible in the first place! I'm sure someone said, "Hey - this is a great way to increase our UPT (units per transaction) because we can sell the compression sack extra!" But that goes against everything I love about REI as a company and a brand. The stuff sack included would work with a Polar Pod or something like that, but in my opinion, it was a poor decision on REI's part to stop including it with their top of the line bags. If they want to be taken seriously as a brand - comparable to the "big boys" they are doing themselves a big disservice here.I did see the REI brand sil-nylon compression stuff sacks nicely merchandised nearby for about $20. I'm left wondering what other changes were made to the Halo series to increase REI's profit margin on the bags since the price points haven't changed.

Comments about REI Halo +10 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I replaced a bag I had since I was a teen so I gave this bag a try. It was great. Used it this weekend in the Sierra's and I stayed extra warm. Granted it only got down to 32 and the rating is 10, but to find a bag that meets it rating is a pain at times. I was actually hot in the middle of the night and had to unzip the bag halfway. I was only wearing a cotton T and bottoms. At first I had on a hoodie for "just incase".....yeah that did not last long. That just shows how warm you can stay in this bag.
I am 5'9 and there was plenty of room. I was actually able to bend my legs and when I had them straight I still had room to keep the next days clothes at the bottom or sides. They were warm as can be in the morning. If you need a bag that will meet the rating then this is it.
