Comments about REI Halo +25 Sleeping Bag - Long:
I just camped for two nights in Oregon where the first night got down to 16 degrees, and the second night down to about 22. The sleeping bag did great. I was in a tent, and had ground tarp, and then a Thermarest closed cell full length pad, and a big wool blanket under my bag. Wore long underwear, wool socks, wool hat, and wool top. I did not cinch up the head hole in the sleeping bag (any more than it is by default). I slept through the night and woke up comfortable, but not hot. My impression is that I will be ok in this bag down to temps in the teens. Below 10 and it may not be warm enough. But, I get cold fairly easily, and so I'm pretty excited that this bag (rated at 25/23 degrees) worked so well in temperatures nearly 10 degrees lower.
One little thing that's not obvious about the bag is the cool little zippered pocket up near the top, where you can stash say chapstick or your headlamp, or whatever you might need.
My only slight criticism is that, for me, the bag was a bit narrower than I'd like in the calf section of the leg portion. I fit in it just fine, but I'd have liked maybe another 2 inches of width to move around a bit more. It didn't seem to bother me in the night at all, just noticed it when going to sleep. That's not a big enough reason to not give it 5 stars.

Comments about REI Halo +25 Sleeping Bag - Long:
I was looking for a bag to replace my 45 degree bag that wasn't enough for even summer trips to the Sierra's and chose this bag over the Mtn. Hardware 32 degree bag. And i'm glad I did, the [...] had only about half the loft and feared it would be warm enough. On my first outing it got into the mid 20's several times and I was perfectly warm and didn't need to wear every stitch of clothing. Just some light thermals and a t-shirt, I removed my fleece hat because i was too warm. This is the perfect 3-season bag. I'm sure i'll keep my zero degree bag but only if i'll be sleeping on snow. Thanks again REI for another quality product that didn't break the bank account.

Comments about REI Halo +25 Sleeping Bag - Long:
Overall, I was impressed with the bag and its performance. I like the fact that the Halo comes in long (the regular was definitely too short--I'm 6' tall) and with a right zipper option.
The bag is comfortable and very warm. In fact, it's warmth is one of two complaints I have--I used the bag on a week-long backpacking trip across Catalina Island and it was too warm during nights that were in the 50s-60's. I slept with it open most nights (and decided I needed a cooler bag for summer camping!)
My other commplaint (though not a strong one) is that the bag does not stuff down very small. It definitely needs a compression sack to get it to compress down for backpacking. Also, the zipper snags at times, which could be problematic since the material is thin.
However, these complaints are only minor ones--overall, I'm very satisfied with the bag and anticipate many years of usage.

Comments about REI Halo +25 Sleeping Bag - Long:
First of all let me state I like to be toasty when I sleep. Unfortunately, the EN comfort scale must have been developed by people who like to be near freezing while they snooze.
I bought this bag right before a camping trip in early May. Even though the I was on a pad, using a sleeping bag liner, and the temps never got below the mid 30s, I froze.
Maybe there is a trick to keeping warm in a down bag that nobody has told me, but I am not at all impressed with this product.

Comments about REI Halo +25 Sleeping Bag - Long:
Bag is very minimalist. If you have a hard time getting comfortable or sleeping at night this is not the bag for you. It is very narrow in the shoulders, rips easily, zipper constantly snags and leaks feathers. it is light as hell and keeps you warm though. If you are going for comfort get something else. I switched to another sleeping bag that REI does not sell unfortunately. I traded an extra pound of weight for a more comfortable night with a tougher sleeping bag, the lack of weight doesn't make any sense if you can't comfortably sleep in it. The comfort is very important in my mind and this sleeping bag is extremely restricting. My wife got a mountain hardware bag from REI and that thing is twice the bag of this one. I found her mountain hardware bag tough, extremely light, she sleeps very comfortable and her zipper snags a lot less.

Comments about REI Halo +25 Sleeping Bag - Long:
Excellent bag for the price. Good warmth/weight ratio. Another reviewer mentioned it's not warm enough for 25F - I disagree. I was backpacking in UP Michigan this fall and the temp unexpectedly dropped down to 28 at night with winds gusting 20-30mph at my exposed campsite. I had QuarterDome T2 tent - not the best tent for wind protection, the inner is all mesh - though I did stake the windward tarp side all the way to the ground. Also, I'm 6'1, so the fit was a bit loose. Nonetheless, I was comfortable and warm. I didn't even have to wear any warm clothes inside the bag, though I had plenty on hand. I am pretty average in how hot/cold I sleep compared to other guys I know. I had several bags before and none of them had an honest temperature rating. This bag actually lives up to its spec.
Some negatives:
The shell seems flimsy/ultralight, though it stood up to some abuse from me so far. The bag does leak down. Every night you use it, there will be 1-2 feathers out in the morning. However, at that rate it shouldn't lose much loft over its lifetime. The zipper has tough protective stripes along most of its length, but at the bottom there are a couple of inches where you have to be careful not to snag that flimsy shell. Included stuff sack is a too large.
