Rated5out of5byfromGreat for car camplingThis is like sleeping on a great mattress. I've used Thermorests for many years, moving to thicker ones as I got older. Since I car camp for the most part, stuff size and weight are not a factor. Comfort is. Inflates quickly and a few added puffs brings it up to my desired comfort. Note this is strictly a car camping pad in my view. I can't imagine trying to carry it even on a canoe trip much less backpacking. I camped last fall in PA and the night temp was pretty low. I have a good sleeping bag, but I noticed the extra thickness did seem to help keep me toasty warm. It has two valves and that speeds up both inflating and deflating. I also have a 2.5 inch pad that the rep at REI claims will be just as comfortable, so I'll give that a try as a ligher, smaller version. I have a larger version of this 3.5 inch pad, 78X29. It doesn't look that that size is sold now. Too bad. I really like the extra width and length. BTW, with both this and my new 2.5 pad, I first inflated them at home. Given that they've been tightly rolled from the factory - could have been a long time! - I find it takes hours to fully inflate. However my experience is that each successive inflation goes much faster.

Rated5out of5byfromI wouldn't sleep on anything else!!Okay, so I have only used this for indoor camping, as in I currently do not own a bed! So, I cannot tell you how it would survive on a mountain climbing trip. I would imagine it is too bulky. However, for tent camping, guests that come to visit, and for when the wife kicks you out of the bedroom, this thing is excellent! It may sound crazy, but I would MUCH rather sleep on this than one of those fancy air mattresses. I originally got it since my bed was in long term storage and I needed something to sleep on until I could get my bed out of storage. Now, I have no real reason to get my bed from storage (ok, so I am single and sleep alone). Also, in the morning I store it away and my bedroom becomes a very large study! Since I bought this, I sometimes just want to go to bed so i can lay on it! Maybe I am a total loser, but I sleep like a winner!!!

Rated4out of5byfromGreat sleeping! very comfortable.I have minimized my pack pretty thoroughly, but a person needs a good sleep after a long hike, the bed offers 3.5" of padding and insulation, and despite the slight bulkiness the pad is not much heavier than a standard pad and the insulation has made sleeping in cooler conditions much more comfortable.

Rated5out of5byfromworth the weightLet me begin by saying that I am clearly comfort driven when I am camping or backpacking. I first bought the shorter/narrower version of this for backpacking. I like comfort. I carry around a 40 pound pack, and can hike 10-12 miles a day with that without problem. The pad is around 5 pounds, and I think the weight is well worth it. I am a side sleeper, and go about a buck fifty, so I am pretty boney. These pads have afforded me the best sleep while camping or backpacking I have ever had. If I am not sleeping well due to sore back while in the backcountry, I am not having a very good time. Since buying my first, I found I had to get one for my wife, then my two older kids. My 8 year old is resilient and probably doesn't need one. Several friends with whom I backpack borrow them from time-to-time for backpacking because the extra weight is worth it to them as well.

Rated5out of5byfromCan't buy just one!I bought one of these for myself as I do a lot of car camping and often sleep in the back of my Subaru Outback. This is huge improvement both in terms of compactness and comfort over the inflatable bed I used to take with me. Super comfy, not like sleeping on a raft. I took it with me recently for an overnight with my 70+ step mom who lives in a studio apartment and had been sleeping on a foam mattress on the floor. I had her try my camp bed out, and now she has her own. She is happily using it as her regular bed. Of course this is not suitable for backpacking, but if you want something, comfy, easy and sturdy, this may be just the ticket.

Rated5out of5byfromLove the comfort of this pad.Love this pad so much, gave as a gifts to my sons for Christmas. Favorite way to use is to unroll pad and open caps to allow self inflation to occur. Then I top it off and seal at bed time. They are as comfortable as the Aero beds but much simpler to use. When repacking, I find it packs smaller by rolling twice. Roll up the first time and cap the ends. Unroll and then reroll until air is pushed to end, unscrew caps and finishing rolling before capping again. Keep knees on rolled up pad until the straps are fastened around the pad. Pad is ideal for car camping where weight and size are not a factor.

Rated5out of5byfromgreat padGreat self inflating camp pad. I even used it once on a hardwood floor while visiting a relative and was still very comfortable. The pad was easy to set up. If you want more firmness, just blow into the valve and you're good.
