Comments about CycleOps SuperMagneto Pro Bike Trainer:

I have owned the Cyclops for over 4 years and have an estimated 10K miles on it. I ride an hour every morning on the trainer during the winter and in Wisconsin that's about 8 months. I have not had a single issue or failure. I am 6'5" and when I started I was 295 lbs and I believe the trainer was primarily responsible in getting me to my current 225 lbs.

the yellow adjusting arm broke, but customer service replaced the part. I had to figure out how to install the part...should have just returned it to REI as their warranty dept is GREAT.

Comments about CycleOps SuperMagneto Pro Bike Trainer:

I use this trainer 5-6 days per week through the winter. The adjustable hub is outstanding for varying degrees of difficulty....easy/road/interval/mountain, and power curve is fantastic. It is also very quiet, so quiet that a normal conversation can take place. I broke the cam bolt on the trainer the first day and cycleops stood behind their product and sent out a new one with no questions asked. If you have the extra money to upgrade, DO IT! I know that when the Spring season breaks, I will be ready for the road, and my competition won't. Remember, if you use a trainer, keep an eye on your tire wear, as they will wear more rapidly. I'll be replacing mine before I hit the road this Spring.

Comments about CycleOps SuperMagneto Pro Bike Trainer:

Time logged on trainer prior to review: ~300miles or so

I use this trainer on rainy days or when I get home too late from work to go out and ride. And of course planning on using it during the winter.

Set up is easy. The trainer comes fully assembled. All you need to do is replace your bike's rear skewer with the provided one. Lift the bike into place, turn the clamp tight against the skewer, then clamp the fly wheel against the tire. Once used to the exchange it takes no more than 30 seconds.

This trainer is quiet, I use it in our garage while my wife watches TV in the adjacent den. She has not once commented on the noise level. And we can have a conversation at normal volume when she is in the garage while I am riding.

It is rock solid steady, I use it with the cycleops block raiser and never have any sense of instability.

The resistance curves feel very realistic, and this thing has an enormous fly wheel which helps improve that feeling. I use it most frequently on the interval and road settings (it also has a mountain and easy setting). You need to be off the bike to change the resistance curves, but shifting gears while on the bike alters resistance in the same manner it would out on the road.

Because the unit is a mag trainer, it does not overheat easily. After a hard 1.5 hour ride, the mechanical parts of the unit are only warm to the touch, never hot.

Overall I am very pleased with this and have no negative comments.

Comments about CycleOps SuperMagneto Pro Bike Trainer:

I purchased this product - the floor model - from a different shop and am not disappointed. This is a great and versatile trainer that offers a good range of resistance. Training is smooth and consistent, albeit a bit noisy (but that's to be expected from a bomb-proof and durable trainer like this one...this baby will outlive me).

My only semi-complaint is that the mounting method is a bit odd. It takes some acclimation to get the wheel mount just right so there's neither too much pressure not not enough on the rear wheel. This is more relevant if you're switching bikes (e.g., seperate mountain and road bikes).

That being said, the above negative is quite minimal and I would recommend this training to anyone looking for a great indoor machine that offers a wide range of natural-feeling resistance options. Happy riding!
