        Bought on Friday, returning on Monday. Bought as a PFD light since listed in Paddling Safety Gear. Seemed great - rated waterproof to 300 feet, small size etc. However, this device twists to turn on and to engage the o-ring, you have to twist it down all the way, so it is only waterproof when it is on. First time in the water, the clip came off the PDF attachment point as I was re-entering a canoe, but I caught it and put it in a PFD pocket. On Sunday, it was wet on the inside. Turned itself on once in the pocket. Don't bet your life on this. Should not be listed as paddling safety gear.

        This little light is the simple answer to a long search for a good strobe. I have, like so many of you, been caught backpacking at night, and keeping large groups together can be difficult. With one of these on the leader's back, and one on the last hiker's sternum strap, you can easily see how stretched out everyone is. I would recommend either the white or green flashing or the red steady mode, as flashing red can be confused with an emergency signal.

        If you are indeed trying to send an emergency signal, then this is the perfect flasher. Compact and lightweight, it hitches a quiet ride with your gear until needed. Then, it flashes for over a mile for almost 20 nights, or over 10 straight days.

        Here's the bottom line-if you are looking for a tought little strobe that won't let you down, go with the E-Lights Guardian Light.

        I've use the white Guardian light on all my night kayaking paddles. I prefer to simply clip it to the deck rigging instead of my PFD. Does not interfere with other paddler's night vision. Be aware that I've drained my batteries when I didn't proper unscrew the top, I now simply remove the batteries to avoid draining the batteries now.

        I use these on my kayak to be more visible at night. I have not had any problems with water getting inside while in the off position on my kayak, even with waves coming over the deck. The light is simple, small, and surprisingly bright at night. As for the belt clip, it could be stronger, and it would help if it was not smooth on the inside surface of the clip to help grab whatever it's attached to. Granted the belt clip can be removed and the light can be attached to a strap for a more secure attachment. If you don't twist the light in the off position enough, they may come on if the top is pushed down, but I just test this before storing lights.
