Comments about REI Kingdom 6 Vestibule:

Just received this addition today went home and hooked it up to the tent in the back yard. I found it needs some tweaking to get it to sit right. What I found is this;instead of hooking the triangular pieces to the loops on the side of the tent, you can stake them using the fabric loop instead of the plastic hook for better strength. This will better close the gap between the rain fly and vestibule. I have attached some pictures...hope this helps!

Comments about REI Kingdom 6 Vestibule:

We got the kingdom 6 and the vestibule. At first I thought it would just make the tent even more gynormous and difficult to set up on a tent pad. However, after two 5 day camping trips we have proven it to be incredibly useful. The first time we camped in an area where there was no shade so late in the day we sat under the open vestibule and it was a great shade haven. The second time camped we were able to use it extensively as it rained each day for a few hours and we had our two young children with us. We used the vestibule as a place for the kids to eat, take off wet clothes and shoes before entering the tent, as a place for us to sit in our camp chairs and play cards while the kids napped. Lastly, whenver we would leave for a hike we would stow are chairs and gear in it so it would not blow away. It was incredible and made the kingdom 6 an all around perfect addition to our family. The only two drawbacks are the price and figuring out how to position it on the tent pad so you can use both vestibules. With that said tho we have managed to do that without a problem at established campgrounds.

Comments about REI Kingdom 6 Vestibule:

If you own the Kingdom 6 Tent than spend the extra bucks to buy the vestibule. Its a little pricey for what you get but it adds more room and provides shelter for the tent entrance. It would be great if REI made another fly to include a vestibule for the Kingdom 6. It is possible water can get through on the sides because there is no way to secure to the fly. Anyway glad to have one.

Comments about REI Kingdom 6 Vestibule:

We had used the Kingdome 6 on several trips before we got the extra vestibule, and we did well without it, but I really like the additional space and protection it provides. Last week we were in Central Oregon, experiencing the most rain we have had on any trip with the tent. The add-on vestibule was a great help. It not only provided a place to keep boots and equipment dry (which the integrated vestibule would have done) but it was a place to comfortably take off wet jackets and such prior to entering what we were using as the "living" room portion of the tent. For that purpose it was more comfortable, roomy and convenient than just having the integrated vestibule. We used it on past trips to store the large stroller of our grandson (who was sharing a tent with his parents that had no vestibule) as well as folding chairs and other things we wanted to have out of site and protected from potential rain when we left camp. Having the added door and "room it provides also makes it less tempting for my dog to bolt out when I need to leave the tent at night, or any other time for that matter. We look forward with many more trips with this versatile tent and vestibule.

I am considering whether I want to invest in poles to hold the door up, but at this point don't feel the necessity. I might consider it if we start using the tent for longer stays or when we start taking the grandsons with us in our tent.

In spite of a solid downpour one night, we did not feel we had any leakage around the vestibule, and did not experience excessive sagging. The whole tent interior stayed dry. Really enjoying this product.

Comments about REI Kingdom 6 Vestibule:

I've used it once so my experience with it is limited but between the 90 degree temps, the unrelenting sun and the driving rain we got in the two days of use I'm going to say I'm really glad I had the vestibule. Our tent was set up in full sun and the only relief I had was when I rigged up the open vestibule as a sun shelter using two Kelty Adjustable Tarp Poles. Storms were forecast that night so before turning in I removed the poles and zipped up the vestibule. It worked great. The only complaint I have is that it has a design flaw that allows for gaps on the sides where it should fit more snugly against the tent to totally keep out all rain.

We bought the REI Kingdom 6 tent one year and decided to add the additional vestibule the next year. It was a great add and easy to set up. Its perfect to store our camp chairs and lanterns in over night so they're not wet the next morning. We love this tent!

Comments about REI Kingdom 6 Vestibule:

We used the Kingdom 6 on several weekends & longer vacations and really enjoyed it, but I got the vestibule later since it seemed kind of a cool extra. Initially my partner was not sure it was worth the extra money. A couple of weekends last year it was used to store a giant stroller for the toddler who was with us, but family still seemed a bit skeptical. After a recent weekend, the tune changed! We were out for four nights/five days, had showers the first nigh and downpours the second, with lots of rain during the days. We had "lakes" all around the campsite. The tent worked great, but attached vestibule and the optional vestibule really saved the day. Our party included 5 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs, with 2 adults and a large dog in the Kingdom6. Of the four tents, the Kingdom was the only one with plenty of dry storage. Our bedroom was at the end with the attached vestibule, where we stored our two folded camp recliners during the rain, with room to go out that way if we wished. The rest of the camp chairs were in the optional vestibule, along with some other gear. The optional vestibule still had room for a walk-way into the "living room" (aka dog's bedroom), that end being our main entrance/exit. We were able to duck under the vestibule, remove raingear and drape it over the chairs, then go into the living room a bit drier. The bedroom remained very dry, being so far from the main entrance. I was able to tie up the large end flap of the optional vestibule on one side, making an easy entrance/exit, but the gear remained protected. When the rain stopped, it was easy enough for anyone to grab the chairs, without disturbing the tent occupants.

The first time I set up the optional vestibule, it seemed like it did not really fit onto the tent well, but then I realized I needed to tuck the flaps that go to the side of the tent under the poles and it fit better. The way it clips to the tent still leaves some space, but in our downpours everything was protected, so the small amount of space between the tent and the vestibule really did not seem to make a difference. As with anything else, set-up went better with practice, but am very satisfied with how simple it is to add this much storage/extra protection from the elements. We all agree now that the optional vestibule was a good purchase, making a really great tent even better.

Comments about REI Kingdom 6 Vestibule:

I used my tent in Valle Nuevo, Dominican Republic. The weather was very cold (-3°C) and windy. My Tent was very sturdy and the wind didn't cause too problem. The tent leaked a little bit, but overall the tent got over the weather very good.
I found it kind of dificult to setup.
