I was really disappointed in this product. I loved everything about it except for the fact that in less than two weeks it had rusted in spots. Mostly on the inner top edge around the mouth. I kept it clean, and always emptied it out and left it to dry at the end of the day.

I have a lot of different water bottles and this is the best. My kids (and I too on a busy day) always have problems with screwing the lids in so they don't leak. This one is really simple to open and close, fits in to all of my bottle 'holders' - drink, bike, backpack etc.
The trick to eliminate leaks - don't let the pressure build up inside. Screw the lid on firm, but not tight - and as another reviewer said, no iced water. The bottle will keep your water cool enough without ice.
I get many comments on this bottle when I am carrying it around - everyone is looking for the ultimate water bottle and I think this is it.

Comments about Nathan Steel Flip Straw Bottle - 24 oz.:
I got this for my daughter and she loves it - she drinks a ton more water now than she had with her SIGG bottle. Easy for her to operate and flow is fast enough to keep up with her gulping. It gets heavy use (abuse?) and even with several dents on the bottom it still stands up straight, which has not been the case with our Klean Kanteen.
I have noticed that it leaks, but only if I fill it with ice water. It's a pressure-equalization thing and I don't see how any bottle of this flip-straw design wouldn't do the same.
I wouldn't recommend it if you like super-cold water, but for room temperature drinkers it's a great bottle.

Comments about Nathan Steel Flip Straw Bottle - 24 oz.:
I usually hate water bottles. They start to look cloudy or dirty pretty quick and get scratched up. Not this bottle. It looks appealing. It doesn't look like some old nasty water hanging around at room temperature. And I know there is ice in it!
Secondly, I hate the way you have to unscrew water bottles and they have the big mouth and you spill it on yourself. Not good when you are at work to be dribbling water. This one has the excellent straw so no unscrewing.
Easy to drink and appealing, I have really increased my water intake at work when I need it most, and reducing the use of disposables at the same time. Win-win situation.

I've tried the klean kanteen and another one and this is by far my favorite. I am a big fan of straws, but I really don't like the camelback bite valve thing.
Another plus is that the intake valve on this one is silent (unless you spill water on it). I just love having a plain old straw that doesn't look so silly to use, and that you can clamp off to prevent spills. I have had mine for 2 months with no issues, smells etc...and certainly no rust, the screwtop is some kind of plastic...so I'm not sure what the other reviewer is talking about.

I received this as a gift and I'm very glad I did, because this bottle has become part of my every day carry around stuff. I've put all kinds of juices, koolaid, tang, cytomax, etc. into it and have not had any problems with weird tastes and the design of the bottle looks good I think.
As you will find reading these reviews, the straw feature seems to be confusing some people, who feel the need to write all these incorrect posts about it leaking. I consider it to be "user error".
The problem comes from the straw, which is completely optional BTW, and the design feature that prevents the vacuum building in the bottle every time you suck on the straw. A little one-way valve lets air into the bottle, and because air can go in, but nothing can get out, pressure sometimes builds up inside the bottle. Blowing on the straw, heating the bottle with your car, or even vigorously shaking the bottle will all build up pressure. This can create a pressure in the bottle that some people are having problems dealing with and they are inappropriately leaving bad reviews about leaking.
It's almost like they haven't ever opened a soda can that was warm or shaken. I image that they are out there writing nasty reviews of Coca-Cola saying how their cans are awful because they "leak" when you open them.
After the first shock of having this bottle work this way, I have learned how to use it properly. By bending the yellow rubber straw head over until it clicks, you can very effectively close the bottle and it won't leak at all, not even if you tilt it upside down. If you don't close it, of course it will leak if you turn it over, put it in your gym bag or purse, or shake it. Maybe the Camelbak bottles that some people are used to wouldn't work this way with its bite valve, but that's how this bottle and most other bottles work.
If you know or suspect there is pressure built up in the bottle, you can unscrew the top a little to let the air escape, or you can open the straw and watch the fountain of liquid come out. I personally start sucking on the straw just before it opens and deal with the pressure in that way.
This is by far my most favorite bottle that I've ever used and I'm glad someone though enough of me to give it. If the pressure is a problem for you, just take the straw off of the bottom of the cap so that the air in the top escapes instead of the fluid in the bottom. All of the bottles neat design features, like the clip and finger hole and soft yellow rubber thing will still work fine!!

I know this water bottle has gotten mixed reviews, but I love it. I love being able to drink out of the straw feature rather than having to unscrew the lid. This is especially useful in the car. I've been using it for 6 months now and it doesn't leak. I've had it in strollers, diaper bags, my purse, the car seat, and it hasn't leaked. On occasion it does spurt water when I open it because of a temperature change or pressure change, but any water bottle with a straw would do that. My water always tastes fresh and is easy to drink, encouraging me to drink more fluids. I have no complaints.

This is a terrific bottle. I like that you don't have to bite the valve like with Camelbacks. I've not had any problems with leaking when the lid is on securely and the straw is closed. THe ONLY issue I've had and why I didn't give it 5 stars is that in a warm car pressure builds up inside. When you engage the straw to drink, it becomes a mini-geyser and water comes up and out of the straw. To avoid this (when I remember) I just open it slowly and put my lips around the straw before it is completely engaged, or open it away from me and let it spill! The pros however far outweigh this one con for me.

Comments about Nathan Steel Flip Straw Bottle - 24 oz.:
My husband purchased this bottle for me because I have been looking for a good stainless steel water bottle at a good price. This is definitely a great price for a really good water bottle. The only negative is that I had to return the first bottle I received because after a few uses the inside of the water bottle got a small rust spot in it. I had only used it about 4 times and I always made sure I didn't leave it overnight with water in it, and I always removed the lid and straw so that it could dry out when I wasn't using it. I was really disappointed in this. But, on the up side, I love the straw...it makes this product unique and very user-friendly. I go to the gym about 5 times a week and plan to take this with me everytime. I can't wait to take it hiking this summer too. Good water bottle, just beware of possible rusting. REI did however quickly replace the rusted bottle at no cost to me and I'm hoping that the rust spot was just a fluke and won't happen with my new bottle.
