Whether it's hauling Christmas presents home, grocery shopping, or giving as a gift!! This is an incredible buy! The totes you can buy at grocery stores are okay, but this bag is amazing! It's deep so it hauls twice as much, and the TWO sets of handles let you pick for your comfort! Extra durable, fashionable and not to mention safe to the environment! I now have a total of 12 of these bags, many I have given as gifts, but I'm hoarding a bunch for my own personal use. These are great totes!

Ah, a simple shopping bag...what can you say. Beyond the obvious, that it's good to re-USE, not just recycle.

Well, this bag is WOVEN polypro, not unwoven, so it is very sturdy and can carry two one-gallon jugs of milk; it has shoulder length handles, which frees your hand, and "shorty" handles so the bottom won't drag on the ground (if you are "height challenged").

But mainly it is a great emergency carry-on bag for flights - fold it up to fit your carry on, then throw your "personal bag" in here with any purchases if the gate agent is eyeballing the number of bags you have.

For shopping, beach trips, the gym even, the wide woven hand straps simply just don't cut into your hands, and impair circulation, the way plastic bags to. And unlike a paper bag, this thing just won't break.

I'm not an individual that takes the time to write reviews, but this item really warrants one! I know, it's just a tote, but with the onset of the number of reusable totes avaiable today (grocery stores, department stores, etc), the REI tote is significantly better. Besides the fact that it is built of much high quality materials, the bag is also larger and deeper, allowing you to put almost twice as much stuff in it compared to the grocery store variety. By far, this is one of the best purchases I've made in an effort to be more eco-friendly.

I had been looking for a good alternative to plastic blags and finally found it with this REI Reusable Shopping Tote. I love it for several reasons:

1. It really does hold twice to three times as much as a plastic bag, and is strong enough to bare the large load.
2. The multiple handle options are a definite plus
3. I use these as often as I can and they still look like new.
4. When I have worn it out I will be able to recycle it.

Keeping them in my car has allowed me to also use them whenever I am in need of extra storage or carrying capacity. You will not find a better bag than this.

In addition to all the other uses in the 3 previous reviews, these bags are great to use with Bike Grocery Baskets [...]REI has large Wald rear basket, by I have the folding type..I use a bungee cord through the long handles to close up the top, so the wind doesn't fly a way with my bag of Cape Code Potato Chips. I roll the top of the bag over, slide the handles through the side wire basket, to close the top w/out crushing the Potato Chips. Then I use a bungee cord to snug the bag clos, by pulling up on strap which is thread low on the basket. The tall, sturdy bags increase the capacity of the baskets. (Add bread, etc crushables to the top.)I'm about to buy 10 more & pick them up at on a bike. Low carbon foot print.

Great bag! Have been using 1 - 2 times a week for grocery shopping for about 3 years and still now worn out. I am going to order more to replace another shopping bag I bought at the same time that IS wearing out! Really like the two strap lengths.

Would love to have it also available with sewn in dividers for things like bottles.

This is the best reusable shopping bag I have come across. You can fit 3-4 regular plastic bags worth of groceries/etc. in one of these easily. Extremely durable as well, recently used one to haul firewood to a campsite. About a million uses for this bag other than groceries.

Also used these for all of my Christmas presents this last year and everyone loved them, saved on wasted wrapping paper/bags and doubled as another gift. Genius!

Everyone should go ECO-Friendly!!! So buying one of these is a step in the right direction!
This REI tote is great for groceries, department store shopping, carrying laundry, and even to carry field work equipment. With all the different totes being sold or given away everywhere this REI tote is significantly better. Its made of really good quality material making it strong enough to carry many groceries without breaking. I've even taken it out to do field work to carry equipment that i need and it worked great! Up to now (and I've had it for 1-year) there are no tears on this tote!

I use these bags several times a week for groceries. They are strong and pack easily. They hold their shape well and are only a dollar! I don't mind advertising for REI because the company is doing a great thing by offering these wonderful bags at such an incredibly low price.
