Comments about SRAM Red GXP Bottom Bracket Cups with Ceramic Bearings:

I have a Red Bottom Bracket on my road bike & I just used my dividend to upgrade the Force BB on my TT bike to the Red BB. You can noticeably feel the difference in drag when spinning the two cranksets by hand.

In reference to the other reviewer's complaint about servicing the BB, I do find the Red BB requires a bit more care. I remove the cranks and re-grease my Red BB about every 4-6 weeks. I performed the same service on my Force BB about 2 times a year.

I use the Park grease that's approved for ceramic bearings. It's really not that big of a hassle, I work it into my bike cleaning schedule - remove the cranks (clean them) and use your fingernail to pry off the bearing seal. Clean out the old grease & put in new grease. Reinstall bearing seal & cranks.

The only thing keeping these from being 5 star is they're a bit expensive.

Comments about SRAM Red GXP Bottom Bracket Cups with Ceramic Bearings:

Smoothest BB I have ever ridden but no worth the cash unless you are a pro with a full-time mechanic to keep up the maintenance.

You have to buy some obscure grease (SKF LGHP 2) no one stocks and apply it with a syringe every 100 hours of riding. Worse, your have to disassembel/lube/reassemble the BB immediately any time you ride in rain. I suspect SRAM trimmed down the seal to save on friction and substantially reduced bearing seal protection. I'd rather have better seals frankly for the money I spent. In Winter, I ride in rain a fair amount and I have to do the disassemble/lube/re-assemble BB dance every time it rains on a ride.Unless you have a personal mechanic, save your cash. I wish someone had warned me before I forked over the cash. SRAM should have at least.
