The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Ergon GX1 Grips:
The Ergon GX1 grips are the best on the market. I was interested in these grips as I was raised in Germany and I know the quality of german made products. I found an advertisement for these grips and I researched them and I was impressed with what I found. I was casually shopping over the weekend with a bike trip planned for the next day. I found these at REI in Asheville NC and I decided to give them a try. They are lightweight and they were very easy to install. I road about 9.7 miles with them on my first trip and wow was I impressed - not disapointed. I have had about five different types of grips in the past and I would say that these are the best and the best value for the $. If I would have know the difference I would have paid double. Highly recommended product and I look forward to my next ride!

Comments about Ergon GX1 Grips:
I tried these grips on the recommendation of a casual rider. They are very comfortable for casual riding. When riding hard on the trails they started to hurt my wrist due to the limited range of motion around the grip. I tried repositioning but did not work.
I know grips are user prefernce so if you are thinking about these grips, I would recommend trying them. If you buy them from REI they are 100% satisfaction guaranteed so you can return them if you don't like them.

Comments about Ergon GX1 Grips:
I get to be one of those people for once.. the only person on the whole of the internet to have a problem. :( I could not find one other complaint similar to mine. *shrug*
Issue #1: Once unthreaded, the clamp screws would not screw back in. They were roughly 2mm too short to get started. I tried EVERYTHING. I felt guilty for having to return to seemingly perfect sets to REI. Third set I took to Ace Hardware and found screws that matched the threads correctly, but were 1/8" longer. Finally, I could mount the grips.
Issue #2: In order to get the grips to not spin on the handlebar, the screws had to really be torqued down. The hard plastic has little friction on the bar, and the rubber grooves to prevent slipping squish out the end a little bit. Ergon needs to license ODI's clamp system as it is FAR superior. I went back to my Lizard Skins grips, and tried to put the Ergons on my girlfriend's bike, but they could not clamp the bar at all. User error? maybe, but most likely the handlebars are not created equal.
For the period I had these on, I was quite pleased with them, onroad anyway. Despite Ergon trying to position their grips for racing or mountain use, I wouldn't suggest it. Even the GX1s are best used for street cruising or light trail use. They are certainly worth trying as they do provide addition comfort on longer rides.
I want to give them 3 stars for the trouble I went through, but they get 4 just because of the potential flaw in the person using them.

Comments about Ergon GX1 Grips:
I bought these grips to replace stock on a Trek 6000 Mtn Bike. They were very easy to install, and a huge upgrade from the stock. Very comfy on the hands and look 10 times better than stock. Strongly recommend.
