Comments about Cannondale Quick 4 Bike - 2009:
I read reviews and researched like crazy. Bottom line; test driving bikes was what made my decision. It was all based on how the bike felt to me, and I realize that my body type is not like everyone else's. Anyhow, for about a month, I visited 1 to 3 bike shops per week, and I test drove between 15 and 20 bikes. After narrowing down the style to the more fitness-oriented hybrid, I then narrowed it down by brand. I finally had to decide between a Rocky Mountain RC30d, the Trek 7.5fx, and the Quick 4. I loved all 3 bikes (much more than several other brands-- Specialized, Giant, not a fan at all. I loved Bianchi's style and build, but I couldn't find one that felt right for me.) The Quick 4 was just a perfect fit. I felt a little more stretched out on it (the other brands made me feel scrunched up). It's certainly my preference though, and the next guy may prefer the other brands. That having been said, though, the Cannondale Quick felt so much... pardon the use of the term... quicker. I've let 4 people ride my bike since I bought it, and they've all said, "Wow, this thing is quick!" My girlfriend felt the same thing, too; she tried almost as many bikes as me and ended up buying the Quick 4 as well (she got the small frame - she's 5'3"; I got the medium - I'm 5'9"). I was almost ready to wait til a bike shop got one of the Quick 3's in stock, but in the end went ahead and bought the Quick 4 because I loved the bike, and it was only [$]. It feels and looks and is built as well as any bike in that price range, and in my opinion may be the best. It's pretty light; not near as light as higher-end bikes, but lighter than other bikes in the same price range. Ride-wise, it felt better than several more expensive models. I thought about it long and hard, and I would have paid $1000 for that bike. Cannondale did a great job on this one. Side note: there is a definite quality difference between the Quick 4, 5, and 6 models. The 6 feels like what it is... the least expensive in that line--- designed for a tighter budget. The 5 is a slightly better version of the 6. There was a big jump from the 5 to the 4, though; much smoother ride with the carbon forks on the 4, and the shifters were waaaay smoother. I never got to try the 3, 2, or 1; I'm afraid to do so for fear I'd wanna sell my 4 and spend a lot more money. Then again, I could always use a spare bike for friends to ride...

Comments about Cannondale Quick 4 Bike - 2009:
Three weeks of riding so far. Coming to this bike from a Cannondale F-400 hardtail mountain bike with a front fork that just gave me too much trouble. Since my ride is mostly to/from work, I made a switch to a proper commuter bike more suited to pavement and gave up the occasional dirt track in the mountains. Tried many bikes before settling on this - Marin Muirwoods was a close second (too heavy) - but this just seemed to fit me better. With the seat slightly above the handlebars I've lost some of the comfort but gained a more efficient ride. The bike is taut, light and perfect for pavement or packed gravel. I wouldn't take it very far off road though. The design is simple - no bouncy forks, no disc brakes - and I'm hoping this means durability. You feel every imperfection in a road, even with a carbon fork, and this has taken a little getting used to. It's not a rocket, but faster than my mountain bike as indicated by my average speed going up about 15% without additional effort. The seat is comfortable, the handlebars positioned about right, the shifters work well and the frame is stiff and beautifully made. On the downside, the chainrings move far enough under hard acceleration to impact the front derailleur, the rear derailleur ticks in some gears and the front brakes squeal (likely initial adjustment problems). Tires kick up lots of stones and grit. Tapered handlebars mean fitting computers and bells is restricted. Tubes (28x1 5/8) have been hard to find - no punctures yet but wanted to carry a spare. The bike doesn't have much of a 'personality' but at this early stage I'd give in 4-4.5 stars overall.

Comments about Cannondale Quick 4 Bike - 2009:
Was looking to graduate from an entry commuter/comfort bike, that WAS really comfortable but not totally efficient, this bike gives me the degree of comfort I desire plus the upgrade in performance capability. I commute between 70-110 miles a week, and look forward to 10-30 mile rec. rides when I have the time, and this bike works real well for that. It is an everyday bike that can get up and go when I don't have to go to work. I have a Novara trunk pack (the yellow one) that carries just about everything I need with no complaints, and with fenders and lights this is a great commuter.
