I am not an avid cyclist. I gave up my first and only road bike about 25 years ago due to lack of space. The Dahon Vitesse satisfied my urge to get back onto a bike while taking up very little space in my condo and Toyota trunk. What sold me on the Vitesse is the internal housed drive gears. It is much smoother and simpler than the external sprockets typically found on other bikes. It allows gear changes at a stop or on the fly. Overall, the Vitesse provides a reasonable ride on paved surfaces. The 20" rims can get a little rough on gravel and choppy roads. If you plan on doing a lot of riding on such surfaces, look elsewhere for a smoother ride. The 7 speeds provide a nice range of gearing. You will have to work to keep up with the speed of larger rimmed road bikes, but the Vitesse is still capable of holding its own in such "fast company." The fit and finish on the bike are top notch. [...] I would encourage testing and purchase of this bike at a brick and mortar store as this is best way to know what you are buying and to have the bike set up properly. The rear bike rack and bungie set up work well. Consider getting the Bolso bag for carrying and limited protection for the bike and bystanders.Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and would encourage persons with limited storage space to take the plunge by buying a "foldie". The Vitesse has understated good looks. It is a unique and classy way of getting owning a bike for commute or pleasure rides.
