After an initial break-in period you might notice your bicycle performing less responsively than the day you brought it home. Not to worry, this is typical of all new bicycles and simply reflects that cables have stretched or their housings have seated themselves into final position. To keep running at peak performance, all REI bicycles come with a FREE warranty tune-up, which should be accomplished between the first 100-200 miles of riding or after the first two months if you're accumulating miles less quickly. Comments about Electra Amsterdam Classic 3 Women's Bike - 2008:

Since picking up the bike a week ago, I have commuted to work every day. It's only 8 miles round-trip, and the route includes a few rolling hills. The three speed internal hub is more than enough to tackle the hills. The riding posture is great--upright and comfy. My Basil panniers fit well on the sturdy rear rack. The fenders are metal. Two things could be improved: the rear light is rather dim and does not have a flashing mode and the left skirt guard (plastic) never fit quite right and ripped off yesterday. I'm hopeful that the new one will fit more snugly. Having recently ridden a Gazelle (a Dutch bike) for a week in the Netherlands, I was pleased with the stiffer steering of the Electra.
