Comments about Ultimate Survival Technologies StrikeForce Fire Starter:
I got one of these for xmas umteen number of years ago. Literally. I think I was in 8th grade and i'm 30 now. Anyway, I've been using it for a long time to make fires and it has NEVER failed me. Mine came with white cubes that were very flamable. I just used one last month that originally came with it. And it still lit just fine. Normally I gather my own spark-catching materials but I was dying to know if the cubes had expired.
It produces great sparks with every strike. The housing is perfect in that it has a small storage compartment for tinder. It is a great design that has stood the test of time.

This item will last a lifetime. The plastic cover keeps the flint well protected, and the lanyard will always keep the cap/striker within reach. For the true minimalist, it will be too large, but I was able to buy two of these for very cheap, with the all important, but rarely found, magnesium powder.
The sparks are large, and well as the shower of them. Magnesium will create an even larger flame when wet, and this makes the perfect fire starting combo for any weather!

The Strikeforce is great, the best fire starting tool I have yet to own. I love the small compartment in the back for the small tinder. The flint is a very good size, I don't see myself having to buy another fire starting tool for a very long time.

I also bought this firestarter ages ago, back when i was a cub scout. I rarely took it with me since it weighs a lot more than matches in a waterproof container. Now it's in the same bag as my MSR international stove... nothing is better for lighting gas in the primer cup from a safe distance, especially when the stove is still warm and you dont want to lose all your hair. This thing has had years of use and i've barely put a dent in the magnesium stick. My only gripe is that the stick is a little short and stubby, but if you use a lot of pressure you can produce a lot of hot sparks. Definately worth packing! I plan to char cloth to use with it in the future.

Overall good product.
I personally liked the design of the "Light My Fire Scout" just fine. The striker steel has a better burr and is more minimalist. My strike force was kind of dull and required some extra sharpening of the steel right out of the box. After that it puts out more sparks than the Scout. The tinder is great. The Strikeforce is definitely beefier and more sturdy. It can take more punishment and not break like the Light My Fires. At just over 2 ounces more it is definitely worth it in that sense.

Great "just in case" tool. I have used it a couple of times but I always have it with me for that "just in case"

Very good product ... like all their products. But at 4 oz's ... just a bit heavy for my liking. However it works wonderfully and with the ability to hold a Wetfire pack in the handle ... great item to keep in the Jeep for an emergency. Little too heavy to add to my carry.

Great, little pricey but worth it. It starts fires with ease and is very hot. It lasts a long time and works fast. For any survivalist or some one who needs to start a fire quick.
