Comments about Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter:
I was having a lot of trouble with mine not working - would use my water bottle to wet the pads, then sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Recently, I was in a hurry to get out the door and and asked my wife to wet it for me. She put it under the faucet and drenched it. It worked much better. I've been very careful to rinse it after every use and am now soaking the pads instead of just wetting them. Works much better! Frequently gives wild readings (0-255bpm) for the first 10 or 15 minutes of a ride, then settles down and is accurate.
I clicked "Yes, would recommend" only because there are alternatives. The Polar strap is proprietary and consumers can't choose anything else. My Garmin strap is easier to use, less finicky, reliable, and extremely durable. But it won't work in place of the Polar strap. I frequently wear both so I can use the Polar and a Garmin GPS. That's not very comfortable.

Seems to work fine. Strap is uncomfortable and barely adjusts to my 43" chest.

Comments about Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter:
This is the first heart rate monitor that I have had. It has made my workouts much more effective. I wear it in the gym and on fairly strenuous hikes. It has never failed me.

Comments about Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter:
I have used my Polar for two years hiking, biking, running, and in the gym. Many of my backpacking trips and hikes are 10+ hours, and the unit has never failed. Also, I sweat heavily during the trips and I have had no problem with the band failing.
Basically, this unit has worked consistently when it was cared for. There have been a few times when it failed to transmit to the watch, but that was because I failed to clean it for a few weeks. Now, I rinse it after every use, and wash it with an anti-bacterial soap once a week. I rinse and wash the unit in my bathroom sink with warm water - I do not put it in with my laundry. You do need to get the two pads wet prior to use to get it to work, but that is not a difficult thing to do.

Comments about Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter:
The transmitter failed after five months. Now it gives very inconsistent and often no readings. I keep it in my health club locker so I have not tried running it through the washing machine at 40 degrees as they recommend. I guess that's my next attempt before buying a hard one as another person has recommended.

Comments about Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter:
I'm not quite sure why others have had such a hard time with this HRM band. I've owned three of these (came with different Polar watches) and all have worked great, even kept battery life for several years.
Note that you MUST GET THE BAND WET before you put it on or it doesn't work. Follow that simple step and you should have no problems.

Comments about Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter:
[...]has fortuantly replaced three heart rate monitors with this strap. The receivers work great but no matter how hard I follow the clean instructions these straps fail after about 6 months of use. My theory is your sweat builds up in the strap and causes it to send intermittingly. I've since gone back to the hard strap and have never had any issues.

Comments about Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter:
Not the chest strap that work with Nike +. Kinda
misleading from the description on the packaging. I had to return it.

Comments about Polar WearLink+ Coded Transmitter:
I purchased this to use with my treadmill since it has a replaceable battery. Despite being careful to follow the cleaning instructions, after a week or so it would not "talk" to my treadmill to track my heart rate. Sometimes it does, but not consistently enough so I can count on it.
