Comments about Zamberlan 310 Skill GT Hiking Boots - Men's:
These boots live up to all the reviews. They are comfortable, lightweight, waterproof, and have great grip. They took almost no time to break in. The material does look to need a little polish on them now and again, something i was not expecting in a hiking boot.

Comments about Zamberlan 310 Skill GT Hiking Boots - Men's:
Great boot and only had two issues: (1) would have liked a higher ankle portion, and (2) softer sole. Need to wear gaiters to keep out snow or other objects in rough terrain, but still better than having a stiff ankled boot. Didn't take long to break-in and they were very comfortable. However, the sole is a bit stiff, and although the aggressive tread is great on most terrain, they slide on wet rocks more than other boots have. I still love this boot though because the quality is amazing.

Comments about Zamberlan 310 Skill GT Hiking Boots - Men's:
I really wanted to like these boots. Wore Asolo for years with (in hindsight) relatively minor complaints. Had several friends recommend Zamberlan. All the features of this boot looked good on paper and I really liked the 3/4 height.
I used these boots for day hikes, multi-day (2-7 day) backpack trips, and hunting. All conditions - hot/cold, wet/dry, on/off trail, dirt, rock, mud, ice, snow, etc.
First problem was the incredibly long break in period. These boots made my feet hurt in a place no other boot ever has, on the outside edge of the feet just forward of the heel area. First couple times out they would hurt within just a couple blocks of home. I bought some Zamberlan proofing cream and applied liberally hoping to soften up the leather a little bit. After approximately 50 paved miles (both flat and stairs) they were finally broke in enough that I felt comfortable wearing them for long day or multi-day hikes. No comfort issues after break in period.
The boot leather seemed to damage easily. I don't mind scuffs, but after a few days in rocky terrain I noticed a couple "divots" in the leather with little dog ear-like flaps of leather hanging off. I expected better . . . my Asolos never did this.
The final straw was the soles. If you look at the product pics you'll see they're black with gray and red highlights. Most of the little red highlighted knobs broke off. And the gray stuff started to come unglued from the rest of the sole.
Service and delivery comments:
I'm really grateful for REI's 100% satisfaction guarantee. I probably put 200 miles on these boots before I was fed up with them and the clerk at my local store could not have been more understanding and accomodating. I kind of thought they might argue since the boots were clearly so worn, but for that I price I just expect boots to last longer than a few months. I went back to Asolo. For what it's worth the helpful guy in the shoe department commented that he's never seen a pair of Asolos come back . . .

While I have yet hiked with these boots, they appear to be well made from quality material. I particularly like the all leather construction and feel of an old school hiking boot. The only seams are at the back of the boot so they should be pretty impervious to water amd at the same time minimize potential wear points and hot spots.

These are probably the best on the market, and everybody should have them. Even if your only a day hiker, why? Because of the outstanding traction, if you fall once coming down the trail and catch youself on your wrist injurying yourself it's worth the cost to avoid that.
Lower cost boots made of pieces of belly leather and synthetic fabric never work as well as the one piece full leather wrap around construction. I have a low volume foot and the lower laces eyelets close nicely so my toes won't ever hit the end.
Also I get a nice lock down of the heel. Lastly I've hiked these right out of the Box no problems. This is my second pair, I wore out the first hiking the Serria's the upper was fine but the tread lugs worn so I replaced them.

I've had these for a month and the break in period isn't nearly over. That being said, I love putting these on and hitting any trail type; city park to mountain top. The construction is what I wanted in a high-quality long lasting boot. Two cuts of leather only, solid hardware, and no needless seems. I have enjoyed hiking in these boots so far ~40 miles. They're starting to soften up (though slowly) and contour to my feet. The Vibram soles and construction of these boots offer a rock solid base with little foot fatigue. The break in period will be long because these Zamberlan are old-school and stiff. The boots are especially stiff in the front to either side of my toes, this is the only area of 'pressure' as I feel the sides of my feet pressing into the leather. Also, the tongue is heavily padded which isn't an issue of comfort, rather, it leads to these boots getting a little warm in summer heat. I think these boots are great, Italian fit and leather, and to top the list off, very stylish.

Reader Beware - I'm relatively new to serious hiking. Second - as I'm becoming increasingly aware, each hiker has unique requirements for what represents a good fit. Regardless, after a month of hiking I've found the Zamberlan 310 Skill GT Boots really enjoyable.

I was told there would be a 50+ mile break-in but they fit right from the time I bought them. The sales staff recommended I buy a 1/2 larger and they fit perfect with a heavy sock. Have done some day hikes (10 plus miles) and had no problems. It was wet/raining and my feet stayed dry, which is why I went with the all leather boot. I am looking forward to an extended pack trip so I can really put them to the test. Although a little on the expensive side you get what you pay for.

Happy feet the second I sliped one on. This boot was at the top of my possible list when shopping and remained there after trying on several other possibles. The one piece leather was also a huge priority. 50 years of experience and many boots later, this one is by far the Mercedes Benz of boots for day hikes and backpacking in the harsh enviorments of Southern Utah...

Comments about Zamberlan 310 Skill GT Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have been backpacking with a heavy load (40+ pounds) for years without adequate foot wear an knew it was time to upgrade. I really wanted something waterproof which is important in my area which has a wet climate with many rivers and lakes. My only real concern was getting a boot that was too heavy since I know that adding weight to your feet is the same as adding even more weight to your pack.
The benefit of a solid stiff sole boot is foot protection and better weight distribution when walking on uneven terrain. I have found there is no escaping the weight issue. These types of boots are heavy, which is something that you will have to accept. In my assessment, the benefits are enough to overcome any concern I once had.
The boot itself is hand made in Italy and you can tell by the quality construction. Some of the other boots that I tried in the same price range felt either high in the toe or the heel or just sloppy in general. These boots felt great right away although I did get a half size larger than what I was trying with other brands.
With the very rigid sole I was expecting more of a learning curve before I became accustomed to causally walking in them which was not the case. The break-in time was nonexistent. I took about a half mile walk on one evening and then the next day walked for 5 or 6 miles (without a pack). My feet felt great after the hike. After more use because of the leather construction they will only get more comfortable.
I look forward to trying them with a pack and getting them wet. I also upgraded my sleeping bag to an ultra-light (1 pound 10 ounces) which will shave off some excess pack weight making me feel more at ease with this addition. If you are on the fence about this purchase I say do it! Have fun.
