I recently put a pair of these tires on my hybrid. I commute 7 km to work. The first two days were in heavy rain. The tires hug the wet pavement like it was dry. They're ok on a hard-packed dirt trail (which had a lot of mud), but had a lot of friction. Of course, they're not designed for this, so they did well in this situation.

On dry pavement, they perform just as well. The lack of tread and side knobs make cornering exceptional. You feel secure on these tires and don't feel like they're going to slip on you.

I've gone through a lot of debris and glass and a few times heard something pop from underneath the tire. I've had no flats or punctures, so these do seem to be pretty puncture resistant.

They roll smoothly and have little rolling resistance. The sidewalls are very reflective at night and work well.

All in all, these are great tires!

I use this tire for putting down lots of miles on my full suspension bike. This tire feels much livelier and rolls significantly easier than the Continental Town and Country tires I took off, but they weigh about the same, which is disappointing. They corner very well on pavement. They are a little dicey on loose gravel trails, but hey, they are CITY tires after all :O)

Want to turn that old mountain bike into a commuter? Tired of the slowing effect of mountain bike tires? Want to roll fast and smooth (and I don't mean in a bar on lady's night)? Tired of flat tires? Get a set of Michelin City Tires today.

The Michelin City Tire is fast and quiet. The supper protected anti-puncture strip in the tires will make riding through Gaza during an Israeli bombardment a walk in the park. IED's? Not a problem for these tires. They are that tough.

The only down side to the Michelin City Tire is the weight. When I smacked these slicks on my bike I added another 10 to 12 pounds. But, hey, you're commuting – not racing in the Tour de France. I've ridden over broken bottles, fields of bullhead thorns, strange metal scraps, and I've not had a flat tire that can be attributed to the aforementioned war zone(s).

Traction is excellent while riding on pavement or sidewalks. It gets a little sketchy when you hit the dirt. So, if you're hauling booty on a paved surface/side walk and then hit a dirt trail… slow the heck down because you'll be tempting the Wipeout Gods and, like Santa, they'll know when you're being foolish.

This is a great tire. I use this tire on my full suspension mtn bike for commuting during the week. It's easy to put on without tire tools. This is a very heavy tire. This may be a con for some but for me it's definitely a pro. It adds a few pounds to the bike, compared to mtn bike tires or other slimmer road tires, but I need durability. I can't afford to get a flat during my 18 mile commute to work. The 1.8 width is great for casual trail riding, too. If I get too lazy to change back to my dirt tires, these do just fine in the dirt and gravel.

After trying a few tires, this one is it. I love these tires (1.85 x 26 inch size). I commute 10 miles a day on pavement, gravel, sand, dirt, and sometimes rain and or snow. They are fast tires and have reasonable enough grip on loose gravel. On dry pavement they are excellent, with just enough tread design for stability but with no speed deficit (unlike the inverted-tread Serfas tires, which are like rotating suction cups). They are beefy enough to take a pounding over curbs, roots, rocks, etc. Also nice that they are reflective.

I like the tires, have had them on my MGX
MTB that I converted to a city bike. Tires grip the road well while offering little rolling resistance. I have them @ 70 P.S.I. for now, may try 80-87 P.S.I.
in a day or two. Definitely an upgrade for anyone with a $200 MTB. Give these a shot, you cannot beat Michelin quality and performance IMHO.

Outstanding Road Tire for your MTB. I have on ancient Roadmaster Road bike and a vintage but light weight Specialized Mountain Bike. I wanted to see how good the MTB would perform for Road duty with City tires. The 1.4" Michelin City Tekking was chosen and it was the BEST performance upgrade choice I've ever made. My Mountain Bike now performs more like a quality Road bike. Road grip is great, and very quiet rolling compared to the noisy knobs on the off road tires. Keep them pumped up to 85-87 PSI for the best overall performance, about 70 if you want a softer ride. My only regret is not buying these Michelin City tire a long time ago.

I put these tires (the 1.4") on my bike to improve my commute time over a set of Serfas Drifters. The michelin city trek is superb. These tires are quiet and fast. I noticed a big difference in acceleration from a stop at a red light versus the old tires. Almost no resistance. These tires are fast.

On the first day riding home from work with these tires I wrecked and got a good case of bike path rash, but I blame myself for (1) not being used to the narrow tire, (2) riding too fast around a downhill turn, and (3) not putting together that the wet trail and moss on the trail would be a slippery slope. Ooops, my bad.

Did I mention that these tires are fast?

Like previous reviewers, I bought these tires to convert my old MTB into a commuter. These tires (26 x 1.4) replaced some Bontraiger Comfort Hardcases (26 x 1.95), which are also excellent tires, but just a bit heavy for my commute. So far these tires are pure joy, reducing my commute by 10-15 minutes (depending on the Nebraska Mountains a.k.a. wind). Also, the price is very reasonable. I sill have to experience them in the rain, as well as see how they wear over time.
