        Comments about Michelin City Trekking Bike Tire - 26 x 1.4 / 1.85:

Have the skinnier 1.4" wide tires. They have exceptional grip on the pavement.

Makes my mountain bike feel like my hybrid. And with puncture protection, I'm less worried about flats now. Love the reflective strip too.

            Comments about Michelin City Trekking Bike Tire - 26 x 1.4 / 1.85:

I was about to toss an old hand-me-down full suspention mountain bike. It was just no fun to ride, even short trips to the corner store.
I read all the reviews here and decided to try these tires. WOW! I love them! And the bike now!
They have reminded me of why I used to love to ride. I catch myself not wanting to turn on any music because I just want to hear the tire against the road.

It was my very first time in an REI store when I went to purchase these tires. A very busy Saturday. I tried to purchase 2 of the same size tire (26x1.85) and wound up with one of each size..
and didn't notice until they were on the bike, big one in front. I switched them around to make me feel better, fully expecting to return the smaller one. Well, I didn't want to hassle with it and now I kinna like it :) I've got a 1humanpower hot rod with it's skinny front wheel and fat rear...

I have only been able to ride about 100 miles on them so far (many short trips) I take the corners fast, I hit gravel, glass, pot holes, rocks of all shapes and sizes, and I just hear the satisfiying rubber ping of the tire deflecting. 80 p.s.i. feels most comfortable to me.
I am very pleased with these tires. We don't get rain here until the winter, so I can't comment on wet traction except for the occasional sprinkler runoff in the gutter. As for those puddles these are great then too!!

            Comments about Michelin City Trekking Bike Tire - 26 x 1.4 / 1.85:

I got these last night and in less than 4 miles into my commute this morning I noticed the back tire starting to get soft and then eventually the tire went flat. I found a small piece of glass had punctured the tire.

I was hopeful that these tires would replace my Armidillo Nimbus tries I've had for the past 10 years with only one flat due to a nail in the tire. Unfortunately, that will not be the case. Check out the REI garage sale for these on the shelf cause they are going back to the store.

Fortunately, it was a nice day so changing the flat was not a big deal, but in the winter when it is raining and 37 degrees, I really don't want to be changing tires for small pieces of glass.

So, I can't recommend these tires for daily commuting given my experience. Hopefully the ride home will be flat free...

Got these tires for my mountain bike to ride in town when I exercise. They added about 3 mph to average speed and roll great and quiet. they are ok in grass and hard pack gravel but don't mix with mud.

                    Comments about Michelin City Trekking Bike Tire - 26 x 1.4 / 1.85:

All of the other rave reviews are correct! I have an old beater Trek mtn. bike that's been made a hybrid for wet, city conditions. It previously had Specialized Nimbus EX tires which were very good but don't even compare. These tires are much faster and really corner well even under wet conditions. They are also great on dry pavement. The narrow sidewalls are very reflective and look cool too.

Three bike dept. staff at REI (2 @Pearl store, 1@REI hdqtrs), when asked about bike tires kept pushing a Vittoria Randonneur Cross tire even though they were not the size I was looking for. When specially asked about these Michelin's, they kept changing the subject. I am glad that I read all the reviews first!

These tires are GREAT, period! They make me want to ride my bike more often. :-)

Great tire. Replaced my old Tioga City Slicker that lasted 12 years. The Michelin is a fast fast tire, grips well and makes cornering a breeze. They are durable and totally up for the mess that are Cambridge roads.

Decided to put another set on a pair of UST rims, but they didn't take. The bead does't sit properly on the wider rim.

I put these tires on my touring bike while training for a trip down the length of the Pacific Coast. They worked so well while commuting that I kept them on for the ride from Canada to Mexico. Long after the ride was over I continued to use them. These were the best tires I've ever owned.

                        Comments about Michelin City Trekking Bike Tire - 26 x 1.4 / 1.85:

I bought these on sale last Fall from REI. The Kenda Kwest tires on my hybrid were getting beaten and I'd get a flat every couple of weeks...so it was time for replacements.

I started using the Michelin City Trekking tires seriously in Jan when the rain slowed down a little. I ride about 10 miles a day except on heavy rain days.

NO FLATS SO FAR...knock on wood. I ride through urban Oakland and Berkeley on bad pavement, glass, gravel and some dirt packed trails. Frankly I'm surprised, in a good way.

The rubber looks like it's wearing mildly fast but if I can get one solid year of puncture-free riding, I'll be very happy.

The other thing, at 80psi and 700cx35 tires, you can get the bike moving (even at 24lbs)...very good roll resistance.
