    Comments about Patagonia Drifter Gore-Tex Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:

I saw these shoes online and I loved how they looked. I loved the reddish leather and the little embroidered curly q in the back. And of course the Gortex.

A little bit of background, I generally have 2 pairs of shoes that I wear 95% of the time. Work shoes and everything else shoes. I decided years ago that considering that I only wear 1 pair of everyday shoes that they should be: Gortex (I live in Western WA). Work for hiking, concrete walking, and all casual dress occasions. Cost over $100.

My last pair of everyday shoes were North Face Hedgehogs, which I loved. They are now my work shoes. They were waterproof and light, although the tread and design were a little aggressive for fitting in at most formal/casual events like weddings and such.

I would wear these Patagonias to any wedding I'm not actually supposed to be 'in'. They are very stylish, especially with long pants that cover the top only revealing the bottom half of the shoe. I've been wearing them daily for about a month now and I love them. The leather has really broken in, and I'm getting that 'oh so great' shoe feeling that they are just a part of my feet!

I did have some fit problems to begin with... I ordered 9's online (which is the size my Hedgehogs were), and wore them for several weeks telling myself 'they aren't too small, they just need to be broken in...' They totally made my feet numb several times, so I loosened the laces as far as possible which helped. That worked for awhile, until a weekend of cutting down trees and hauling brush around forced me to come to terms with the fact that these shoes really hurt my feet! Even though it had been almost a month, I called REI to ask about exchanging for a size up and they told me to bring them in no problem at all. Sizing up made all the difference for me. These 10's fit exactly as I hoped they would. They feel great, they're waterproof and they look awesome. Obviously my advice would be to go a size bigger that normal, and hey, if they don't fit right bring them back to REI and they'll get you the size you need!

      Comments about Patagonia Drifter Gore-Tex Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:

These are absolutely the best hiking/walking/trail use shoes I have had. I have used these in the rain, snow, light trails, parks and urban/city settings and they are comfortable, practical and I can transition to a work setting with them and not feel like I lose professionalism. As light hiking shoes, they are heavier than other shoes I have but not enough to be onerous. I needed to invest in a couple of days of breaking them in with the shoe laces also getting undone, but it is not an issue now. These are definitely worth the price in my opinion.

      Comments about Patagonia Drifter Gore-Tex Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:

I generally have one pair of everyday shoes for warm weather, one for cold and both get a lot of use (I don't own a car and I do a lot of walking). These are excellent for the cooler months and for wet weather, although they should get periodic conditioning of the leather. They felt great right out of the box and needed no break-in period. The downsides are that they are "hot" in warm weather, like most Gore-Tex shoes. The most annoying feature is the original equipment laces--they constantly come undone. Patagonia usually pays attention to detail, so I wonder how this got past them.

I bought these shoes a few months ago in response to the weather, and my normal sambas just not cutting it anymore...I ride public transport alot because i'm a broke college kid! They have been perfect on mornings where it has snowed and i'm waiting at the bus stop, or for around campus! Kinda heavy...infact heavier than my Bates gx-8 boots which i have for hiking. but super super comfy! I hope they keep making them for a long time!!!

        Comments about Patagonia Drifter Gore-Tex Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:

I am a New York City Wine salesman. I walk all day long. I walk from restaurant to Wine Bar, To Wine Store all day long. Walking on the harsh terrain of New York City Streets. I have been wearing the Drifters since I started over a year ago. Most days I walk about 10 miles a day. With a 30lbs bag on my back full of wine. It rains a lot, or snows a lot, or is hot a lot. My feet are always comfortable. I am now on my second pair after a full year of hard use. I have taken them on several out of the city camping trips and have never let me down. My only wish is that they would match the full suit and tie I have to wear every now and then, and my life would be complete. Buy this shoe!

I spent 6 weeks in spain this summer hiking several times a week on rough terrain. They perfomed great on the rocky up hill terrain, amazing traction, they offer great ankle and overall foot support. I recomend these shoes to everyone who enjoys the roughest hiking or just a relaxed stroll through the woods. These are the best shoes i have owned

            Comments about Patagonia Drifter Gore-Tex Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:

This is the first pair of hiking shoes that I've owned in quite some time, preferring lighter trail sneakers. My latest pair of sneakers was wearing out and I was preparing for a trip to the Dominican Republic with part of the trip planned for up into the hilly high country. These shoes turned out to be perfect! They are light enough to wear all day and are rugged enough to protect the feet on some pretty tough trails. They also kept my feet dry in the mud and rain - just don't try any deep river crossings, because they did take a while to dry out after I let some water in. If you are light on your feet and prefer something a bit less clunky, I would recommend these for just about anything. Two comments: The rubber seemed a bit hard and slippery on wet dirty sidewalks/rocks, and I would definitely recommend water proofing, especially at the seam between the toe rubber and leather.

            Comments about Patagonia Drifter Gore-Tex Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:

I bought these shoes about 2 months ago, and have been pretty happy with the fit of the shoe- it's very comfortable, and feels great right out of the box.

These shoes were purchased for hiking, and they have great traction and comfort on the trail.

The downside, is that the top of the toe cup on one of the shoes is coming apart. The Bend, OR REI store helped me try to repair it, but after only a few days, the repair is failing. Considering the price, it's pretty disappointing for this shoe to come apart after 8 weeks, and less than 100 miles of hiking.

These shoes are great. I have worn them nearly everyday in the fall and winter. They are warm and waterproof. They're perfect for outdoor use in mild weather. The only issue I have with them is traction on wet, smooth surfaces is very poor. I can overlook that and I would definitely buy another pair.

            Comments about Patagonia Drifter Gore-Tex Cross-Training Shoes - Men's:

I hadn't bought new shoes for about six years but I decided it was time and have not been disappointed, these shoes are amazing. I have had none of the traction problems mentioned in other reviews. Living and hiking in seattle I haven't had any traction problems while scampering across rocks in rivers and streams. They are extremely comfortable for everyday use, and they feel great on my feet. The only problem is that the laces consistently come undone unless furiously double knotted.
