Comments about Arc'Teryx Theta SV Bib Pants - Men's Regular:

An excellent lightweight shell that fits great, repels water perfectly even on the seat, and rugged; as the description says "robust". Stays clean, doesn't absorb odor, just air them out and their ready to go. The higher back makes these pants compatible with any jacket, and the suspenders keep your pants where they ought to be. Could always use more pockets, but that would add bulk.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Theta SV Bib Pants - Men's Regular:

Just bought these pants and it took me the longest time to finally push the buy button. I was EXTREMELY skeptical about spending almost 5 bills on just a set of ski pants... But the more I read ppl's opinion the more curious I became. Long story short...I finally did it and do not regret it at all. The craftsmanship is just superb and is clearly superior to any outdoors gear I own. This being my first arcteryx piece, I inspected it thoroughly upon receiving it and found flawless stitching taping and gluing of seams. There is not a detail spared in the construction of this garment. I slowly started to understand the quality and reason for its high price and I hadn't even worn it yet.Wearing it was another delight. You will forget that you are wearing it. It fit the contours of my legs and waist just fine. Even when I layered up underneath, the fit and movement of the garment was great...like a well oiled machine. I went skiing the other day and the pants never stuck or withheld my movements. It doesn't hang on you or encumber you in any way. They were so lightweight it was impressive. No matter what the activity was, skiing or siting down for lunch, these are hands down the most comfortable ski pants I ever wore. The wind blocking qualities of these pants was also great. The wind was really blowing and while my chest and arms were chilly (older coat I was wearing), my legs were not affected. The one thing I was skeptical about were the water-proof zippers. As a test, I put the pants in a bathroom sink, opened the faucet and let the water run over the pants and and over the zippers. I kept the water going for nearly 10 minutes and only the smallest drop penetrated past the zipper to the interior. Very impressive! In total...I regret waiting so long to get these pants. In an instant all my other non-arcteryx gear feels like it cant measure up. Wearing these pants will make you feel spoiled.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Theta SV Bib Pants - Men's Regular:

When you buy an Apple computer, you know what you're getting. TOP notch build quality, beautiful design and impeccable performance. Same can easily be said for Arc'teryx products, these snowboard bibs included. However, a few minor design decisions and one glaring oversight exposed after a few outings prevent me from making these pants the greatest of all-time.

      Pros:
      Arc'teryx construction
Heavy duty reinforcement around high-stress areas
      110% waterproof
      200% windproof

      Cons:
      No side pockets AT ALL
      No buckles on bib straps
JUST a shell, no insulation (can be argued that this is by design)
      Expensive

The lack of side pockets on these pants are the single (and only) frustrating feature of these pants. I think it goes without saying that ANY pair of pants should have side pockets. After taking these pants out for 3 or 4 outings, I can't remember how many times my hands have instinctively reached to the side trying to pull out a trail map and been met with disappointment that, yeah, there are no pockets!!
There are however two very small zippered pockets towards the top of the bib, pictured in the product photos. They're great for holding a tiny wallet (ya NEVER want anything hard or sturdy in a pocket between the ground and your body god-forbid you fall directly onto your chest and the camera or radio or iPod cracks your sternum). However, they're useless for anything else!
Because this product is a bib, these two pockets are placed very high, which means if you want to access anything in these pockets to have unzip your shell, unzip your inner vest/fleece, pull-up your pullover, then get at the pockets. Extremely inconvenient.

Really wish there were buckles on the bib straps as well, very difficult to have to go number-two in these pants and be forced to strip off everything you're wearing over it just to take off the straps and pull down the pants.

Front zipper runs very high up onto the chest, so again, having to go to the bathroom involves an awkward reach up under your pullover to unbutton, then unzip.

With all this said, there's no doubt in my mind that these pants can be wrapped around 4 pounds of dynamite, detonated and come out the other end in returnable condition. Construction on these pants is heavy-duty and top-notch. Arc'teryx took care to really fortify the heels of these pants, lots of scuffing and scraping on this often exposed area of the pants can really take a toll.

Great pair of pants, would definitely recommend to a friend accompanied by a stern warning of "be prepared to work around the lack of pockets and high zippers and you're all set!

Comments about Arc'Teryx Theta SV Bib Pants - Men's Regular:

I have used these pants snowboarding 130+ days a year for many years. Now that I've got 150 days on my second pair, its time for a review. For a full side zip style shell this design really can't get better. They work with a pack or harness on. They have built in gators. Even though the zipper wont split they will easly fit over an alpine boot or Snowboard boots. Like any shell pants they must be paired with the right pants to allow you to still have pockets, if your pockets are too high on whatever pants you wear underneath getting to those pockets can be trickey on a chairlift. Nothing you can do there without comprmising fit with a harness on. The new prowshell is awesome! My only complaint is the waterproof zippers on the new china made ones. The rubber coating started peeling off after a few weeks of use where my old canadian made ones never peeled after 5 hard years of use. I guess that was to be expected when Arc'Teryx sold out.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Theta SV Bib Pants - Men's Regular:

I've worn these pants for 3 years, and they are the most durable and tough goretex pants on the market. I've worn them in and out of bounds skiing in the Wasatch and Olympics. Every other gtx pant I've own has been shredded by glissades, crampons, or ski edges, but these guys. Fits over layers and vents well with the full side zips.

Comments about Arc'Teryx Theta SV Bib Pants - Men's Regular:

Great fitting bibs that worked great for most of the ski tours and mountaineering trips I threw at them. Soft top on the bib back is very comfortable and grants a free range of motion that's needed for climbing hard routes.
Fit is true to size in both waist and inseam. They might look a bit long when trying them on, but remember that their intended use is with some sort of higher rising boot, which takes out the extra length. Interior leg gators are a very nice added touch to keep snow out of your boots when you're kicking steps up a gnarly face, or bombing down a line in deep powder.

Another thing I liked about these pants are that they are extremely durable! I've been poked and scraped by trees on descents, snagged crampons on the leg cuffs, and been hit in the shin repeatedly while loading sit skis and the pants show no sign of wear! Amazingly durable...I can't say that enough.

These have been working hard for me for about 4 solid months now except in one area; they are not waterproof. When the weather is nuking (like if often does in the PacNW), your shell is your protection from the rain. These leaked around the knees like a sieve. Often I would feel wetness running down my shins into my boots from these leaky knees. For a 3 layer Gor-Tex proshell pant that costs this much, I expected better. I thought it was condensation at first, but testing these while not exerting myself yielded the same results. I'm not sure if I just got a pair of lemons, but it's unacceptable for the price.

Arc'Teryx makes some top notch, bomber gear, and the Theta's were no exception until the waterproofing issue arose. They will be going back for a replacement.
