Comments about Ruff Wear Web Master Dog Harness:
This is the best and safest harness I've found in my 26 years as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Compared to standard dog harnesses (or even designated seat belt harnesses) which shift and leave you lifting or tethering the dog by pressure on the straps at the shoulders and armpits, the Ruff Wear harness was obviously designed by people who know dogs. The body geometry is right for use as a seat belt tether, for a hiking assist strap, or fully lifting the dog up or down an embankment, for example. I think it could use just a little more padding on the chest strap if the dog will be lifted a lot, but the pressure is so evenly distributed throughout the harness that my dog has not seemed tender or sore. The assist handle is placed with the dogs weight distribution and body shape in mind; it is so well placed and balanced that I can lift my 40 pound dog up into the truck as easy as a (living) suitcase. She wears the harness everyday at work. I like the built-in reflective striping for added safety, too. This is such a well-made, well-fitted, comfortable, and well-balanced harness that I'm buying another one for my 15 year-old dog who needs help on steps, slick floors, and getting into the car--that assist handle is in the perfect place!

Comments about Ruff Wear Web Master Dog Harness:
This is kind of like clothes, its more of a vest than a harness. However, when I brought it home and put it on her she didn't want me to take it off! She was strutting around all proud!
I bought this for my 9 yr old 60 lb mutt. I bought her a medium. She generally wears a medium. However I tried this on my pug who also generally wears a medium in dog clothes (yes he wears clothes-mostly because he gets cold easily-and yes he likes it) due to the stout nature of his breed and there's NO WAY. He needs a small, maybe xs. So I would say other reviewers are correct, this does run large. The only reason it fits my mutt well is because she has a big bird chest.
I bought this so that I could tether her to me when we swim in rivers. I combine this with the ruff wear knot a leash and we're golden. There's no way she's drifting downstream!
The harness itself locks in three places, and is very well padded anywhere that could easily cause skin irritation. This is GREAT for dogs who chafe easily. Due to the padding it's also great for doggie seatbelts for those car rides! In the case of an accident, the design will not result in your dog being strangled like a cheap nylon harness can and the padding reduces the chances of broken bones and obviously keeps your dog from flying forward.
The reflective stripes really add visibility at night.
If your dog has never worn a pack this might be a good transition as it fits just like the ruff wear packs-they just have bags added.
We love it!
This harness is built to last!

Comments about Ruff Wear Web Master Dog Harness:
This harness is worth the money you pay for it. The construction is sturdy and built to last. The harness is stiff-it could practically stand up on it's own, but yet is comfortable for the dog. There is a lot of adjustment in the straps. I have a 90# dog with long legs and deep chest and I could adjust to accommodate. The reflective piping is nice, too. Since the loop is on the top, I feel I have more control over my dog that by the way pulls a lot (picture a scent hound/sled dog mix-a dog that has a nose to ground and can pull like crazy!) The loop is at the top of the harness. It also has a handle on the top so if you pass someone and need to contain your dog, you can just grab the handle and hold him closer. Also helps to assist your dog up and over obstacles. This is a great harness for those three legged dogs. The only thing this harness is missing is a little pouch to put your keys in or poo bags in and a longer cushion strap for deeper chested dogs. You may or may not like the attention of people staring at your dog either with amazement and jealousy of this piece of equipment or because the harness looks strangely large and obvious. We love it and technically we give it a 4.5 stars. A pocket would have made it a 5. Get one.

Comments about Ruff Wear Web Master Dog Harness:
I have used harnesses for a long time on my dogs. However, I always felt like any harness I put them into was not sufficient or safe as a seatbelt. That was proven one day when I had to slam on my brakes with my JRT in the back seat to avoid an accident. She flew into the foot well and was strangled by the harness I was using. I gave her mouth to mouth to revive her and she survived! I then went on a mission to find a proper harness and the Ruff Wear harness fits the bill.
She now uses it everyday and it is very safe and secure. It fits snug but not to snug and as a seat belt, I think she is safer than me now. On the trail, she is comfortable and I can lift her over large obstacles and on city walks, she pulls and is not strangled by a traditional collar. I plan on getting another soon for my second JRT puppy when he gets full grown. Thanks for a brilliant product Ruff Wear; highly recommended!

This is the perfect product to use if your pet needs help getting up or down steps, due to illness, aging, or injuries. My 12 year old dog was suddenly struck with vestibular disease. She was hospitalized and could not stand up for a month. She is now recovering and can stand up and walk. This dog harness enables me (age 68) to help my 50 pound sheep dog up the 30 steps that lead to the front door of our home. I slip my hand in the handle on the harness, and we take it one step at a time. A genius designed this harness! It's the perfect fit! It provides the exact amount of support that she needs! Thank you, REI!!!

Comments about Ruff Wear Web Master Dog Harness:
First of all, I should say that I heard about this harness from other tripod dog owners. They said good things, so I thought I would give it a go. I've got a 6-year-old tripod (he was hit by a car as a puppy) lab mix that sways the scales at 85 pounds. He's definitely big.
That being said, he fits well into the medium harness. He is at the top edge of what they say it will fit, but it does, indeed, fit. The handle is well placed for helping him get up tricky inclines and down stairs. It was quite easy to put on, and fits well for a dog missing a front leg through the shoulder.
We've taken it out hiking in the hills, and we use it for our every-day walks. We pretty much leave it on him all the time as he's a little sensitive about us working his front leg into the harness. We're working on that. The fit is great, and the adjustment points make it easy to fit snugly, but loosen if he needs more breathing room. The reflective piping has also come in handy at night (he's got a black coat). The D ring for his leash is well made.
This being said, the harness is great for a well-behaved dog. I can grab him by the handle if he decides to pull, or tries to respond to an aggressive dog, but for the most part the leash is a safety feature for us, not a primary feature. I would not try to use the harness for teaching a dog to not pull while on a leash. But to give a bit of support to your furry friend, this is a great buy! I'll be buying these for all of my future dogs, and several of my canine "friends" will find them under the tree this holiday season.

This works like a charm on my Lab. My Lab is a year old and has the energy of 3 labs combined. Gotta love Labs! I needed a good harness to keep her under control on our long runs but with the freedom of movement and non-choking abliity. This was perfect. She doesn't even know it's on when I put it on her and now I can control her speed when we are out on our runs. Not only is this perfect for control but also for holding her (by the handle) for when we pass other dogs on the trails. I read the reviews on this harness and knew it would be perfect for my lil Marley.
