Comments about REI Acme Pants - Women's:
I reviewed last years version of these pants and it appears the review has gone. These pants *look* very similar to the previous ones, although it's possible they've gone minor improvements.
These pants are highly versatile. This year I've worn them about half a dozen times backpacking in temperatures from 65 to 80F and been very comfortable all the time - no clamminess. I also wear them in winter when I'm snowshoeing in dry conditions (i.e. not the west slopes of the Cascades!) with thick thermal baselayer underneath. They breath, but are warm in all conditions.
They're also extremely durable. You don't have to worry what you sit on, or brush by, you just get on with the business of hiking or backpacking.
The pants are not water proof, of course, but I've found them to be very water resistant. It takes a lot to get them to wet out - certainly much more than most other pants. In storms I also put on the water proof pants though, as I'm a sensible sort.
I guess that's it. Try these pants out - I think you'll really like them.

Comments about REI Acme Pants - Women's:
Wore these frequently during a 2 week trip thru the Scottish highlands. Great in cool weather. Didn't get to evaluate them in hot weather yet. I like the slim fit but be aware that the internal part of the pockets is fairly slim too (even a wallet or cellphone makes quite a lump ) They look nice instead of looking like cargo pants.
The cuff zips open wide enough to allow shoes to squeeze through but not hiking boots.
I'm not quite 5'7", and normally wear about a 32-33" inseam... these pants are ok when I'm trekking around in hiking shoes, but too short for me to want to wear casually. I'd guess they're about a 30".
As soon as they offer a longer inseam and another color I'll happily buy another pair.

Comments about REI Acme Pants - Women's:
These are the greatest pants ever!! They might run a little small, but are well constructed, and incredibly confortable. I have worn them cross country skiing, hiking and then into town!! They have a classic fit....just below waistline. Perfect for the northwest, they are great in damp weather, but may be too hot for southern climates. I think they will be great for travel, but again, probably better in cooler climates.

Highly recommend! Since I purchased these pants I have worn them constantly. I live in southern Norway where its cool and rainy and these pants not only are comfortable and weather resistant but look greaton. I can wear them almost anywhere and not feel like a total slag.
