I was surprised to not see any reviews about this jacket. So I figured I would give my two cents worth after owning it for a little over a year.
What can I say? REI's One jacket is great when being used for what it was intended for. I've worn it while climbing Mt. Adams three times now and it works very well. It keeps the wind out, sheds rain, and just plain feels good to wear. I haven't had any issues with it at all. In fact if something ever happened to it I'd definitely buy another one!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Best soft-shell on the market for the money. It is a little expensive, but the quality, versatility, and durability that you get FAR out weigh a little extra money - DEFINITELY WORTH IT!
I have worn this traveling all over Europe, hiking, running, and on semi-dressy evenings with my wife. Loved it so much I bought the women’s version for her without asking ... and scored big! If you’re looking around for soft shells, and can’t go directly to the store to see for yourself, trust me and all the other reviews that all point to the same conclusion – excellent jacket!

I bought this jacket at the REI in Tacoma, WA., and wanted something not as thick as a winter parka or something with a hood hidden in the collar. The jacket has worked out great for the past year or so to say the least. I wear this thing almost everywhere I go, to include work, out at night and even brought it camping up on Whidbey Island a year and a half ago. It rained up on the island most of the day and a group of us wanted to go on a short couple mile hike and the jacket was awesome. It didn't leak, kept me warm "at least for the upper half of me", and dries out very quickly.
My jacket has a sort of fleece lining, which is great to wear around town, whether it's in Tacoma or downtown Seattle and looks good too!

This is my first purchase from REI and I so far I am absolutely loving my new One jacket. Two things sold me on this jacket: 1) the fit 2) the "all-aroundness". I tried on basically every jacket at the store and the One was the only one that fit me properly and wasn't short in length like most jackets of its kind. I also love the fact that I can take this jacket with me when doing practically anything. I got to try out its water repellent features two days ago and while its not 100% water proof (I could feel the inner fleece lining ever so slightly damp), it repelled 98% of the rain. My only gripe is its a little on the pricey side. That said, I would purchase this jacket again.

I bought this jacket for hiking and general out doors activities, but find myself wearing it all the time. It is light weight, breathable, and water and wind resistant. It is unbelievable how it cuts out the wind. I work in a very windy mountain pass and am frequently in freezing driving winds. This has always been a problem until now! I also get a lot of comments on how stylish it looks.
The only thing I don’t like is the sleeves are too long.
But the good far outweighs the bad.
I know I should be wearing my other wonderful jackets, but for some reason I keep reaching for the ONE!

Coat is great. I live in Wisconsin and it is cold, especially right now. I was looking for a fleece but I didn't think anything was warm enough for the wind. It lives up to it's name "One" jacket. This definitely does the trick. Glad I found it.

This jacket pretty much does it all, it might get out done by being stuck in a heavy downpour for an extended period of time, but anything besides that and you're money. Amazingly comfortable, incredibly warm, and even a little stylish too. I had this jacket stolen at a bar from me one night, it sucked, was furious. Started looking at it on this website, and didn't even hesitate to buy another one, i missed it too much. And now i have it, the world spins freely again.

I bought this for my husband last christmas and he's worn it for almost everything since. It's great for walking the dogs, biking and even casual work wear. He wore it most of the winter last year as we had a somewhat mild year. He probably would have worn it even if it hadn't be so mild as he hates the bulk of heavier coats in the car. This is the perfect all around jacket.
