great snowboarding pants

I bought these in grey [...] in 2005. I've used them every winter since then from NM to CO, then all the way to Italy and Austria. They have held up just fine and I still have no need for a new pair. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the waist is a little high for my taste, but I'm 5'2 so I prolly should have got the shorter inseam.

NOT durable, would consider defective

I purchase these pantsfor hiking in cold weather, snowshoeing, snowboarding etc. Within the FIRST DAY of wearing these pants, they had significant wear on both legs, and many HOLES near the seam. not directly on the seam, but where the inner tape that seals the seam meets the material. (Holes are big enough to see inside the pants). I contacted the north face about this and sent them the pants, thinking they would replace, but they claimed this was not a manufacturing defect. Actually, as a mechanical/manufacturing engineer, i beg to differ. Inappropriate material choice and/or poor manufacturing a product such that it does not fulfill its expected use, is a DEFECT. The material and assembly choice was poor resulting in an inappropriate level of wear over a SINGLE use. A pair of pants that claims to be to be 'durable' and 'the most technically advanced', should be expected to last more than one easy day hike.

Loved them!

I bought these pants to wear with Patagonia Capilene long underwear for a snowshoeing trip to Slovenia. They were awesome, just the right weight for below freezing and long side vents were perfect on the uphill climbs. The velcro waist allowed me to tighten them just right. Great pockets, too!

Disregard Above Review

These pants have an adjustable, elasticized waist. They are full cut. They are fantastic, esp. b/c of the zippered vents. For someone to blow the seams on these pants, they would have to be wearing several sizes too small, and they'd have to reallllly try hard.
