Comments about REI Alpine Lakes Full-Zip Pant's - Men's 34'' Inseam:
The fit on these is much larger than I expected. I wear a 36W x 34Inseam and these pants were too long. I guess this is good when you sit down as they still cover your ankles. They could also stand for more adjustability in the waist (make it just a little smaller)
They are very good at keeping the wind and cold at bay. While backpacking in 15 degree weather with the wind blowing at 25mph, I was comfortable with only a midweight baselayer. Even at 0 degrees with little wind, they were comfortable. It didn't rain or snow my first outing so I cannot comment on how they perform in rain/snow.

Comments about REI Alpine Lakes Full-Zip Pant's - Men's 34'' Inseam:
If you need a pair of emergency back up gore-tex pants then these are for you...but if you need Gore-tex pants that you intend to spend all day in then you would be better off looking elsewhere. I bought them based on their price but after a short time I soon realized why they were so cheap. They have huge full length zips that leak like sieves and pant cuffs that do not tighten. The material they are made from is as good as anything out there but the overall design is crude, needlessly wasting additional material making the pants baggy and heavy for their simplicity.
Again, they certainly have their place in the market as an economy Gore-tex pant but if you need something more technical, as I did, then invest a bit more money and buy something better.

Comments about REI Alpine Lakes Full-Zip Pant's - Men's 34'' Inseam:
Great shell pants for a reasonable price! Fully waterproof fabric, though moisture sometimes finds its way in through the side zips and crotch zip. Very durable. Took a team up Rainier last summer with these pants and they performed great! Just a single pair of thermal underwear and these pants made for a great combination. Also handy in the alpine as a good barrier between you and ice/snow conditions

Comments about REI Alpine Lakes Full-Zip Pant's - Men's 34'' Inseam:
Used these in some 35-45mph wind 50 degree F conditions at Point Reyes while it was raining (sideways). They performed perfectly, not a drop of water got through and for being as rugged and somewhat thick as they are they were not stuffy at all.
I was wearing the Alpine Lakes Pants over a pair of Columbia Titanium (quick dry style) pants with good ol' Under Armour 9" Boxer Briefs.
Great protection for the entire 13 Mile 7 Hour day in very wet & windy conditions.
