Comments about Patagonia Down Sweater Vest - Men's:
You're out hiking in spring/summer/fall and you're heading up the hill, sweating away. You get to the top and a chilly wind hits you. Your energy level fades and you get cold and reluctantly decide to leave the beautiful view so you can get moving again to stay warm.
If that sounds familiar, get this vest! It's a super lightweight and tiny (when packed) vest that will easily fit in your daypack. It will help you enjoy that view a lot longer!

Comments about Patagonia Down Sweater Vest - Men's:
Used vest on a trek in Nepal for two months and wore it almost everyday. It worked great except the zipper broke which was a pain because i had to use duck tape to hold it together. Besides the zipper I fell in love with my warm, light, easy to dry vest.

Comments about Patagonia Down Sweater Vest - Men's:
I picked this up in the Atlanta REI last year, and I'm getting ready to pull it out again. I pair it with a TNF Varius Guide Jacket and I'm set for wet, windy, and relatively cold weather (it can reach the low 30s sometimes down here in Florida). I prefer the use of a vest under the hardshell because my arms don't normally get that cold, and i have a better range of movement in the jacket.
A few DOWN-sides: it doesn't block the wind at all (not a problem when using it under a hardshell), and I've lost a little down when some feathers made their way through the fabric (which I guess is to be expected with almost any down garment).
All in all I'm very please with the vest and would recommend it to anyone.

A nice, warm packable mid layer. Worn over a Patagonia R1 Hoody and under my Arcteryx jacket, I'm set for winter.
At 6'3" and 165 lbs, I found a Large to have too much bulk to it. Ended up going with a Medium as I wanted a close fit. Fits great other than I wish it had an extra inch or two of length at the bottom. The bottom sits just below my belt line, so it's not outrageously short, perhaps I'm just being picky.
One thing that's not debatable is that it looks great!

Goods > Great fit, looks great and super lightweight, warm (with no wind and 40degrees) packable. I got this after two other mainstream less expensive brands started to come apart after 10 days. I have had this for 6 months and it is holding up fine so far.
Bads > Do not try to use this jacket only if the wind is blowing more than 5mph or you will freeze. Excellent layer item with a shell..

Was this thing wildly expensive? Yes. Did I buy this as an extravagant gift for myself while on a weekend retreat without my wife's knowledge of its true price? Yes. Do I love this thing and wear it eight days a week? Yes.

Movement other than walking causes the medium size vest to rise up to the coccix from way down on the buttocks. I was able to wear a sweatshirt and a medium REI fleece sweater under the medium.
The draft flap is narrow and barely protects the zipper, which has a pocket at the top so one's chin feels only fabric. The rear has a generous loop for hanging.
Two pockets (plus an left inside one) for one's hands in calm weather.
Yes, each wearing seems to shed a feather.

Comments about Patagonia Down Sweater Vest - Men's:
My rating is tied to the purpose for which I bought the vest: a lightweight, warm mid-layer to wear under a rain shell, that would stuff into a pocket when I didn't need it. The design is excellent. It doesn't billow out, it's cut to stay close to your core, the materials keep you warm and dry, and the stitching keeps the down from clumping.
I prefer the vest to the full sweater because the vest is less restrictive of my movements, hiking with a small pack and poles. Plus my arms get too sweaty with full-sleeves.
Simple functionality, quality, and looks good off the trail too. I'd definitely buy another one.
