Comments about REI Grand Tour Travel Pack - Women's:
i love to hike and travel and was always worried when checking in my previous hiking backpack for fear the straps would be ripped off. this pack's strap cover is great for that, and for easier storage (when i'm traveling i use it as an extra place to pack small/flat things if i've run out of space in the main pack). the multi-entry pockets make for easy access and more organized packing.
the small bag on the back is great when you get to where you want to be, and want to run around but don't want to pack an extra bag.
the only drawback was that the padded side strap isn't exactly centered so it's a bit off balance when i was carrying it on it's side. but with that said, a month or so later when i was carrying it the same way, i didn't have this problem - so it could have been how i packed it.
overall it fits great, comfortable, great to travel with, and is a unique color so easy to find in the airport.

Comments about REI Grand Tour Travel Pack - Women's:
i travel quite a bit to random spots on the earth where a roller bag would never cut it. I purchased this bag to replace one I had been using for years simply for the easy access front zipper. Plus, I thought the bigger size and detachable day pack would be a big bonus. In reality, this bag was just too enormous, and I'm back on REI looking for a smaller bag to take on my next trip. Even if you don't fill the bag to capacity, there's not much of an option to cinch it down. It's pretty heavy and awkward, and I did not want to carry it on my back for a step more than I had to. Also, figuring out the zippers is a bit complicated at first - I thought I had broken off the detachable backpack.
In all, it's a well-made, solid bag, but I just wouldn't want to take it with me anywhere!

Comments about REI Grand Tour Travel Pack - Women's:
This pack was terrific for my week long trek to the Grand Tetons... the only drawback was that I was going for work and needed to carry my laptop onto the plane (can't check it in the bigger bag). The daypack isn't big enough for a laptop computer, so I ended up having to carry another daypack in addition to this pack+daypack, which got cumbersome and totally defeated the purpose of the bag... IF ONLY the day pack were a bit bigger, I would have only needed this one bag and it would have been perfect.

Comments about REI Grand Tour Travel Pack - Women's:
I have a previous generation of this bag that I use all the time. I have some issues with the version I own, but I'm happy to see that REI made the improvements I would have recommended (such as a cinch strap attached to the little backpack and the side mesh pocket is upright instead of sideways).
I've taken many multi-week trips with this bag and it has more than enough space for my needs and it's really easy to carry around on my back without being obstructive. Because the straps zip in I never worry about them getting dirty or ripping off while they are transitting through airports.
My coworkers and friends abroad love my bag so much they want me to purchase a few for them on my next trip to the states. I really recommend this to anyone who wants a moderately sized but versatile bag.
