These are great mittens for those who live in cold climates (Minnesota) where even the little kids HAVE to play outside or you go crazy in the winter. The best part of these is how they split wide open with a long velcro seam along the back. Even with a 15 month old, you can get their thumb in the thumb pocket because you're not trying to push their hand into the right places, you are simply placing them in there and then sealing the velcro over their hand. The cuffs are nice and long so when you put these on and then pull their jacket or snowsuit over them, absolutely no snow gets on their wrists. These mittens allow my kids (3 and 1 1/2) to play outside for a long time, even when it is in the single digits and they are crawling around in the snow (as little kids like to do). Their hands stay warm and dry. I had one pair where the elastic band that tightens around the top of the cuff broke, but REI replaced them for me, no problem. These mittens are a must have for anyone who wants their little kids to enjoy winter! They are well worth the seemingly high price.

We live in the PNW and go to the mountains every weekend during snow season. After trying several other mittens from core outdoor brands, we got these and now they are the only ones we will buy. So easy to put on and - more importantly in our wet snow - they STAY on. The 3 year old wears them for snow play, skiing and on cold, wet days to the park. We'll be getting another pair this season for our second daughter. Well worth the extra cost. Thanks, Marmot for making such an excellent product for families who love snow.
