    I bought this jacket to use for hiking/daypacking/backpacking, as well as around town. Around town the jacket works great, as you are not exposed to the elements for long. However, on hikes I find myself getting rather wet from the jacket not being breathable/waterproof. Keep in mind that I currently reside in the Pacific Northwest, and our rain here is pretty intense.

      My daughter took this one for a drizzly week in the Marin Headlands and it worked very nicely for her- she was dry and comfortable and especially liked that it was not stiff and scratchy. We usually buy cheaper raincoats and the kids don't want to wear them, except when in dire need, so this seems to be something that is worth the extra cost if you measure by number or uses.
