      This is a great little, lightweight jacket. We bought it because it says "waterproof" and that's what we need here in the Northwest. However, tested in a long rain, my son was wet all over. I was disappointed until I saw that is really made out of just nylon "polymide" (whatever that it). For the price, I could have bought a much more affordable jacket made out of nylon and sprayed it myself. (I'll have to spray this one anyway). Good for a drizzle, doesn't protect in a rain.

        My 2 most active hard core children use their's year round. I thought surely when it hit -18 last year they would need more then these with a good linner. Granted they did not spend extended time outside when it was that cold and they wore warm clothing but still they said they were warm. My children use these as shells year round in Alaska. We can get some serious rain, last summer it never seemed to stop and that did not stop our family from camping, rafting, boating, hiking, climbing. The jackets are still in great shape and noone got cold or wet
        in down pores- rain pants and rainboots or sealed hiking boots with Tholos to keep warm. They cross-country ski in them and play outside in them all winter rolling around in the snow. A great part of there hi-teck clothing that works in all situations.

        These jackets can take a beating - trees are even climbed in they and still look new. We have to return the new North Face jacket and go back to Marmot. As the NoraceDace could not take the punishment. Best jacket Ive bought them.

        My kids love their precip jackets! They are like ducks in the rain they love it and play outside for hours in the rain. Thanks to their precip jackets they always come in dry!
