This is my primary winter hat. It is windproof and the fabric is very soft and comfortable. It also does a good job of wicking moisture away from my head.

The downside is that it could be a little longer. It doesn't quite cover the tips of my ears, which can be a problem when it is really cold. Other than that, I haven't found a better hat.

This hat is clever, but ultimately flawed. The fabric is windproof, as it should be. But the material has no stretch, so it does not snug around one's ears or head, which leaves them exposed and cold. Also, the hat is quite bulky and will not fit well under a helmet, which is a big negative for me. I can't use it cycling or skiing, which makes its usefulness really limited to things like running. I got a competitor hat with a windproof dome and stretchy material around the ears and top of the neck and I'm much happier with it. This one's going back to REI.

The earband section of the hat is fairly stiff so every time you tilt your head back the hat rides up on your ears and they get cold. This is a real problem when you're skiing.
