Comments about Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Gloves - Men's:

It's good for what it was made for. If it's sort of cold they're nice to wear. Best use was as a liner glove though, helped keep my hands warm while shell glove took the beating of the work. Since it's all soft, it's not supposed to have really good grip and fabric might get caught on anything pointy, increasing wear and tear

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Gloves - Men's:

In general terms these are nice gloves, but they have a few annoying design flaws. The first thing I noticed when I got them was just how incredibly quickly the material begins to fray around the seams along the fingers. While the stitching appears quite sturdy, I have my doubts as to the long-term durability of these gloves. They also stick to velcro unlike anything I have ever experienced. It's insane. Simply zipping a coat which uses velcro for the zipper flap becomes somewhat of a chore, since your gloves get stuck on the velcro constantly. This is probably the primary cause of the premature fraying of the fingertips.

The other complaint I have about them is the absurd amount of tags inside the gloves. They are so big (and numerious), that you literally have a tag covering the majority of the palm of your hand, which is quite uncomfortable. When you cut them out, you're left with scratchy edges of the tags, which are also somewhat irritating. It's manageable enough to not be completely annoying, though - just a little odd. Has the Mountain Hardware team not even bothered trying out their own product? Why they allow such a silly tag configuration to reach production is beyond me. It's just bad product design.

Otherwise, they do feel very well made, and if (a big if) the fraying doesn't get too bad, the seams will probably hold up quite well over time. I purchased these gloves to use underneath my cycling gloves to keep my hands warm while commuting to work on my bike year-round. They've performed very well in this regard. I also use them as liners for my snow gloves, and they work great in that regard as well. Also, I don't really understand why some people who reviewed this product knowingly purchased non-waterproof gloves, but then listed "not waterproof" in the cons list. Kind of like buying a car and then lamenting that it doesn't float on water...

Would I buy these again? Eh, it's hard to say. I'd probably look around to see if there was an alternative that didn't stick to velcro so much - It's that annoying. I suppose I would recommend this product to a friend, but with a few caveats.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Gloves - Men's:

The only positive to these gloves is that they are warm enough for winters here in the desert.

The cons: They take forever to dry. You can feel the wind through the stitching-- especially between your fingers. The worst though is how fast they wear. I've only had them a couple months and they are frayed everywhere. I'm returning them tomorrow-- they haven't even lasted one season without turning to garbage.

I only recommend these to someone who doesn't plan on using them in the field and just wants everyone to see the Mountain Hardwear label.

Overall I am happy with these gloves. Fit well. I use them inside shells and on their own.

My biggest complaint has to do with the silly amount of tags that they came with. Very uncomfortable. Removed them with scissors. They also come with this claps to join the two gloves for storage. Problem is that it doesn't work well when you use them as liners.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Gloves - Men's:

I'm definitely not impressed with these gloves. I bought them because I typically trust Mountain Hardwear products. These gloves are not very warm, they take forever to dry, and are already showing signs of wear after minimal use. I read the negative reviews when I got home after my purchase and hoped they were wrong since sometimes reviewers expect gear to have magical powers. Unfortunately, I agree with the bad reviews.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Gloves - Men's:

I have used these for several years as causual, daily cold weather gloves. Primairily for walking my dog, hiking, driving and general all around use. The down side is they do pil and wear out so I buy a new pair yearly or bi yearly. I just lost my current pair and am headed to REI for a replacement. I did try the North Face e-tip gloves and they were absolutely worthless as far as warmth. So Im sticking with these.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Gloves - Men's:

I've had two of these. The first, the stitching on one of the fingers wore out in about 2 days. I got another pair (REI gladly took them back)running on the premise that all of my previous MH gear is bulletproof, maybe this is just the 1% that slipped by. Sadly, the second pair also had stitching that wore out--in about a month this time (an improvement, yes). I mostly wear them in the winter as light gloves for normal travels, nothing technical or exciting.

While they are comfortable, a 1mph wind cuts through them like butter, they get wet quickly and don't dry very quickly (just get to a level of almost dry dampness which is annoying). I still use them as a back up but these really aren't the product to get. Spend a couple extra dollars--these aren't what I would expect from MH.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Gloves - Men's:

I purchased these gloves for an early spring trip to the UK. I wanted something comfortable and warm for urban and suburban wandering and such. Nothing extreme.

While these gloves are comfortable, they're really not warm at all. Even in damp 50 degree F weather, my hands were cold. And the wind whips right through them.

That's bad enough, but after the third day, the fingers and seams started to fray and wear - just from lugging around a messenger bag and simple tourist activities. Also, the tag on the inside of the glove is really itchy on the base of your hand. I would recommend yanking it out ASAP.

Finally, you'll want to try this glove on before buying. I have large hands and always wear a large glove. I'm a medium in this one. Odd.

This glove would make an OK liner, if they reduce the price. I have to be honest however, this is my second pair of Mountain Hardware gloves, and I have not been impressed at all. I hope they get their act together in the accessory department.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Power Stretch Gloves - Men's:

The gloves serve a 1-2 year life span as a liner and basic use glove. They do not hold up well to ski edges and will get cuts while seams will split. After about 18 months they are typically covered in tape and replaced at 24 months.

I still like these over other gloves due to general warmth, weight, and simplicity. The cuffs are what I seek in a liner and basic use glove.

Major CON - the fastener to clip the gloves together is at the point on the glove that some ski poles touch. The clip causes irritation when used as a liner at times and cutting the piece off resolves this.
